Question 1 Requirements The ABC Company is going to design and deploy their company network in their new office buildings. You have being haired to carry out the design and deployment of the network. By considering the following requirements you are suppose to give a detailed report covering all aspect of the network as requested by the company. Company status and requirements; Company acquired head office building and branch office building 20 km away. Head office building and staff details, 1. Has 3 floors a. Ground floor is for customer lounge (5 sales department staff work here) b. 1st floor 9 employees (3 administration department staff, 6 sales department staff) c. 2nd floor 8 employees ( 8 executive level staff) Branch office building and staff details, 1. Has only one floor where 2 executive level staff, 1 administration department staff and 2 sales department staff at work. Network side requirements; 1. There are 10 field officers who go into the field every day and they need to access the head office application server and mail server for updating information as soon as possible. 2. Branch office should be connected to the head office all the time and all internet connection is allocated from the head office. 3. Company should have their web site running in their network which has to be place in the DMZ along with mail server and DNS server. 4. Server farm (server room) should be placed within the head office building where secure access is there and where delivery of server room equipment is very easy.

5. There are separate application server and a database server for each of the department and executive level staff. Inter-department access should NOT be allowed. 6. In the customer lounge, customers should be able to browse internet using company network. But customers should NOT be able to access any of the servers of the company. Can assume that any customer who connects to the network will have laptops with WI-FI capability. Your tasks 1. State any assumptions you make about the network. 2. Design and draw a network diagram for the above. 3. Decide on an IP address plan for the network. a. Different departments have to have different subnets b. Customers connecting via WI-FI have to have different IP range to identify them separately. 4. Propose a connection mechanism for the head office building and branch office. 5. State the security mechanisms that you would implement for the web server, mail server, DNS server, application servers and database servers. 6. State any access control list that should be implemented to make sure customers traffic will be only the internet browsing and not any other. 7. List down possible networking devices for the network. Model numbers and simple specifications. (make sure those models will be capable of IPv6 which might be in use very soon)
