ANSWERLogistics management is the governance of supply chain functions.Logistics management activities typically include inbound and outboundtransportation management, fleet management, warehousing, materialshandling, order fulfillment, logistics network design, inventorymanagement, supply/demand planning, and management of third partylogistics services providers. To varying degrees, the logistics functionalso includes customer service, sourcing and procurement, productionplanning and scheduling, packaging and assembly. Logistics management ispart of all levels of planning and execution -strategic, operational andtactical. It is an integrating function, which coordinates all logisticsactivities, as well as integrates logistics activities with otherfunctions including marketing, sales manufacturing, finance, andinformation technology. 3.Elaborate the concept of Supply Chain Management and its integration with the 'quality consciousness movement'. CPFR is the most comprehensive and extensivem o d e l o f S u p p l y C h a i n M a n a g e m e n t . I t i n t e g r a t e s t h e e n t i r e p r o c e s s r a t h e r t h a n t a r g e t i n g s p e c i f i c a r e a s . I t a l s o e n s u r e s a h i g h e r a c h i e v e m e n t o f c u s t o m e r s a t i s f a c t i o n b y b r i d g i n g t h e g a p b e t w e e n t h e s u p p l y a n d d e m a n d p r o c e s s e s throughout the organisation. This reduces the cycle time and increasescustomer satisfaction. Steps in implementing CPFRThere are nine steps in CPRF implementation. They are:1 . D e v e l o p f r o n t - e n d a g r e e m e n t : T h e p a r t i e s i n v o l v e d e s t a b l i s h the procedures and rules for the collaborative relationship.2. Create joint business plan: The parties involved create a business planthat takes into account their individual corporate strategies and definedcategory roles, objectives, and tactics.3 .

C r e a t e s a l e s f o r e c a s t : O n e p a r t y t o c r e a t e a n i n i t i a l s a l e s forecast uses retailer Point of Sales data, causal information, andi n f o r m a t i o n o n p l a n n e d e v e n t s . T h i s f o r e c a s t i s t h e n c o m m u n i c a t e d t o the other party and it is used as a baseline for the creation of an orderforecast.4 . Identify exceptions for sales forecast: Products that f a l l outside the sales forecast constraints, set the front-end agreement areidentified.5 . R e s o l v e / C o l l a b o r a t e o n e x c e p t i o n i t e m s : T h e p a r t i e s d i s c u s s and produce an adjusted forecast.6. Create order forecast: Causal information and inventory strategies arecombined to generate a specific order forecast that supports the sharedsales forecasts and joint business plan.7 . I d e n t i f y exceptions for order forecast: Products that fallo u t s i d e t h e o r d e r f o r e c a s t c o n s t r a i n t s , s e t j o i n t l y b y t h e p a r t i e s i n v o l v e d a r e i d e n t i f i e d . 8. Resolve/Collaborate on exception items: The parties negotiate again(ifnecessary) to produce an adjusted order forecast.9 . O r d e r g e n e r a t i o n : O n e o f t h e p a r t i e s i n v o l v e d w i l l g e t a firm order from the order forecast
