A. Mantzoros & M. Yeo | Emscher Park as Precedent

-planting of remediative trees around site, especially on piers; provide shade and enhanced green space in summer, aid in remediation of area -using onsite abandoned warehouse as greenhouse/indoor urban farm, varying levels of plantings -using existing storage buildings on site to keep equipment for farming/remediation, possibly water treatment -renovate Historic Freight House as an information/community center for the Inner Harbor -renovate Harbormaster House as a public cafe, using crops grown onsite -use piers as a farmers market in summer, urban farmers using the renovated greenhouse can sell their wares -connect abandoned warehouses/buildings outside of harbor area by renovating as satellite greenhouses, community spaces for information/activity; try to spread awareness of Inner Harbor and its redevelopment

Spencer Street and Clinton Street as main axes to Franklin Square from Inner Harbor a new corridor in the city, connecting desirable Franlkin Square area to developing Inner Harbor, interval hotspots along the way bring more people to the area due to more programming better reflect the quality of Franklin Square, reuse/redevelop spots left in disrepair along the axes create a green pathway, perhaps as a reflection or connection to Creekwalk

A. Mantzoros & M. Yeo | Axes of Connection

use warehouse typology to create greenhouses/indoor urban farms one major spot on site, multiple satellite buildings along Spencer St. and Clinton St. on site greenhouse to be used primarily for Inner Harbor (summer farmers market, supplying restaurant with food); satellite greenhouses to supply Franklin Sqaure and surrounding area, create green strips for public tiered plantings for most effeciency; ground level open to public to view the development of the project

A. Mantzoros & M. Yeo | Centers for Education and Information

remediating existing on site green space; planting remediative trees on piers and strategically throughout site, providing shade in summer and building up simple grass patches create green strip along axes, either a true green corridor or a series of indoor public green spaces green corridor a possible extension of on site farmers market, perhaps even create a summer event or festival out of this condition emphasis on indoor green/public spaces as well, to retain as much use as possible during winter months
