Legal Update Presented by: Davis & Kuelthau, s.c. Attorneys: Bruce Deadman, Kelly Kuglitsch, Geoff Lacy and Bob Burns;
Liebmann, Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry, s.c. Attorneys: Ross Townsend, Kurt Geohre and Jodi Arndt; Attorney Ron Pfeifer from Godfrey and Kahn, s.c.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Coming from the law experts of Davis & Kuelthau; Liebmann, Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry; and Godfrey and Kahn. Attorney Bruce Deadman will start the program off with a presentation on Wisconsin Federal Legal Developments (Case Law, Legislation and Regulations) where the attorneys will talk about recent state and federal legislative and regulatory developments. Similar to previous years, attendees will have the opportunity to select three breakout sessions out of five topics offered. Pre-selection is not required, simply attend the presentations that appeal to you most. Benefits Update: Attorney Kelly Kuglitsch will provide an update focusing on current developments on the compliance and enforcement front. Recent months have seen the issuance of new IRS COBRA Audit guidelines and implementation of an HHS HIPAA Audit initiative. Meanwhile, the deadlines for DOL Service-Provider and Participant Fee disclosure loom for individually directed defined contribution plans, while the IRS continues to refine its retirement plan examination activity. Come to learn about steps you can take to make sure that your companys benefit plans are running the way they should and not running the show. Restrictive Covenants: Attorneys Ross Townsend and Kurt Goehre will address recent developments in the law concerning the drafting and enforceability of restrictive covenants in the employment context. They will briefly cover the basic legal principles regarding restrictive covenants, but will focus the bulk of their discussion on several advanced legal concepts, including issues regarding the contractual consideration needed to support restrictive agreements, the severability to valid provisions from provisions that may be invalid, and drafting techniques to avoid several pitfalls identified in recent restrictive covenant litigation. Concealed Carry Weapons Law Whats an Employer to Do? - Attorney Bruce Deadman will provide a detailed review of Wisconsin's new concealed carry law and other recent changes in firearms laws and their impact on Wisconsin employers. He will also cover employer options regarding policies and signage. How to Get into Big Trouble with Credit and Background Checks: Attorneys Geoff Lacy and Jodi Arndt will present on the topic of credit and background checks. They will discuss what and where to look (and NOT look) for when conducting background checks under Federal and State law, along with employer obligations under the FCRA. What EVERY Employer Needs to Know About the NEW NLRB from Quickie elections to Social Media: Attorneys Ron Pfeiffer and Bob Burns will team up to present the NLRB update, from posting requirements to social media.
