Product Description
2.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
General description The Siqura Videowall Decoder (or, in this document, also called the SVD for short) is a videowall software application allowing for the display of up to twelve live video streams on an external, high-resolution (HD) monitor. The Siqura Videowall Decoder is available in two models: Siqura Videowall Decoder Quad-View (SVDQ), allowing for the display of up to four video streams on an external monitor. Siqura Videowall Decoder Multi-View (SVDM) allowing for the display of up to 12 video streams on an external monitor. The SVD application complements the viewing client software, Siqura Operator Office 2.4 and Siqura Operator Storage 2.4. The SVDs role in the network Operator Office/Storage and the SVD are installed on separate host machines. The Videowall within Operator Office/Storage can be configured to include one or more SVDs on remote machines. Using the SVD, an operator can view on a single monitor up to twelve live video streams received directly from the video sources. Network access is handled by the Siqura MX network service running on the host machine or on a remote server.
Installation Requirements
3.
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Before you install the SVD 1.0, make sure your system meets or exceeds the minimum requirements identified below. The SVD runs on a Windows XP or Vista desktop or laptop PC. An appropriate video card (indicated below) and an external, high-resolution (HD) monitor are required.
please note
Many 100 MB/s network adapters are known to have problems when dealing with a bandwidth usage of 50% and higher. Therefore, a 100/1000 MB/s network adapter is advised for use in 100 MB/s networks. A typical MPEG-2 stream at D1 resolution will step up bandwidth usage with 8 MB of data per second. When receiving more than 6 streams, bandwidth usage is too high for an average 100 Mb/s network adapter.

Licensing Information

LICENSING INFORMATION
The SVD 1.0 is protected by a license. The SVD 1.0 is available in two versions, a trial version and a full version.

Installing the SVD (section 5.1) Requesting a license from Optelecom-NKF (section 5.2) Activating the license (section 5.3)
Installation
5.
INSTALLATION
The SVD installation has three components: software installation, license request, and license activation. The latter two are not required if you have a USB hardware license.
1.
Insert the SVD CD into your CD drive. With Autorun enabled in Windows, the CD menu displays on your screen (figure 5.1). If the menu does not launch automatically, double click the Showroom.exe file in the root directory of the CD. To start the installation process directly (bypassing the CD menu), double-click the Videowall Decoder Quad-View 1.0.1-setup-2.exe or the Videowall Decoder Multi-View 1.0.1-setup-2.exe file in the SVD folder. It is advised to close all other applications before starting Setup.
2.
Installation
3.
Read and accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) to continue Setup. The full text of the EULA is also included as a separate PDF file on your CD. SVD requires Optelecom-NKFs MX SDK. A licensed MX SDK version - usable with the SVD only - will be installed with the SVD software.
Figure 5.3 The End User License Agreement (EULA) consent dialog box.
10
Installation
If an earlier, unlicensed MX SDK version used by an application other than the SVD is detected on your machine the following warning will display: The Siqura Videowall Decoder uses the Optelecom-NKF MX SDK. Your installed MX SDK will have to be upgraded. The new version is licensed. After installation, other MX SDK applications might fail. The existing MX SDK version will be upgraded if the installation is continued. As a consequence, applications other than the SVD using the earlier, unlicensed version of the MX SDK may fail. 4. Choose the destination folder for the SVD files. The default location is: C:\Program Files\Optelecom-NKF\Videowall Decoder Multi-View\v1 Or C:\Program Files\Optelecom-NKF\Videowall Decoder Quad-View\v1
11
Installation
5.
Choose the Start Menu folder for the SVD shortcuts. The default location is Optelecom-NKF.
6.
Figure 5.6 A progress bar shows the advancement of the installation process.
12
Installation
7.
If prompted by Setup, select the network adapter the MX applications on your computer will use, as shown in figure 5.7. After completing the installation, you can access the Network Selector tool via the Start Menu.
8. 9. 10.
Click Next to complete the installation. Select your license type (figure 5.8). If you will be using a hardware license key, insert the key into a free USB slot.
13
Installation
11.
In the final wizard screen, clear either the Run Videowall Decoder Multi-View or the Run
Videowall Decoder Quad-View check box if you will be using a software license file
(without a valid hardware license key or software license file, the SVD cannot run).
12.
If you are using a hardware license key you can now run the SVD (see section 6). Otherwise, you first need to request and activate a software license file.
please note
The hardware license key must be inserted at all times while the SVD is running. If the hardware license key is removed, the application will shut down and an error message will appear.
1. 2.
From the Start Menu, select All Programs > Optelecom-NKF > License Request Tool. Enter the required information in the Work order, Serial number, and Identifier boxes, as shown in figure 5.9.
14
Installation
Found on the sticker on the back of the CD case. Found on the sticker on the back of the CD case and on the disc itself. Enter text to distinguish machines, e.g. when requesting multiple licenses. The default value (the computer name) can be changed. Text must meet demands for a valid file name. Do not use the following characters: \ / : * ? " < > !
3. 4. 5. 6.
Click Generate license request. If all data is correct, the Save As dialog box displays. Specify the folder where the license request is to be saved. The default location is My Documents. Click Save. Send the License Request file via e-mail to licensing@optelecom-nkf.com.
15
Installation
1. 2.
Save the software license file from your mailbox to your hard drive. Activate the file using one of the following methods.
Do this: 1. 2. 1. Double-click the software license file. Click the Start button, select All Programs >
Optelecom- NKF > License Activation Tool.
In the Open dialog box, browse to the software license file, click the file, and then click Open. Copy/paste the software license file to the installation folder. The default path is C:\Program Files\Optelecom-NKF\MultiDecoder\v1.
2.
The following message will display upon successful software license file activation. At this point, you can start the SVD.
please note
This message will not display if the If all else fails method is used.
If activation is not successful, an error message will display. To help isolate the problem, copy the error code and contact Optelecom-NKF. If a license file already exists, a message will display asking if you want to replace it. Click
OK.
With the software installation completed and the hardware license key or software license file installed, you can start the SVD.

6.2. VIDEOWALL
When the SVD is fully operational, the videowall will display. Initially, the viewports will be blank.
19
In order for video streams to appear: The SVD must be added to the Videowall feature in the Operator Office/Storage installation handling the streams. The video streams must be connected to the SVD Videowall element in Operator Office/Storage. On-screen displays appearing in Operator Office/Storage are not shown in the SVD application. This includes information on the connection status, such as link losses, and the configured media object, either a camera, tour, or an i-NVR track. For information on how to configure the Videowall feature, consult the Siqura Operator Storage 2.4 - Installation and Configuration or the Siqura Operator Office 2.4 - Installation and Configuration manual.
please note
Problems related to video image reproduction (e.g. picture-in-picture problems, upside-down images and flickering images) are often solved by downloading and installing the latest drivers for your graphics card (update only if necessary, though) and ensuring that your PC is adequately ventilated to prevent it from overheating (MPEG decoding puts all system components under a heavy load).

6.3. LAYOUTS
The SVD offers a variety of layouts. Selecting layouts for the external monitors is controlled remotely from the Operator Office/Storage Videowall Area.
