Northern Public Affairs is a new magazine for public policy debate in Northern Canada. The magazines mandate responds to a need to create space for informed policy debate on topics most relevant to Northerners. Published three times a year (Spring, Fall, and Winter), Northern Public Affairs features policy-relevant articles written by, and for, our audience of academics, commentators, current and former politicians, business leaders, public servants and engaged Northerners. Founded in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories last November, Northern Public Affairs seeks to link policy-makers with policy-relevant research and analysis in Northern Canada. The magazine is working with the support of the Nunavut Research Institute, the Aurora Research Institute, the Yukon Research Centre, and the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation at Carleton University. The first issue is scheduled for publication in June 2012, with a circulation of 700-800 copies and a significant online and social media presence. Each issue will feature both thematic and topical articles on contemporary issues facing Northerners. The first issue will be published in June, 2012 on theme of Making Research Relevant: Northern Research and Public Policy. We hope you consider joining us in this exciting project. Our editorial team would be delighted to speak with you about story opportunities. Questions or submissions can be made to northernpublicaffairs@gmail.com.
