In the essay, Horrors! Girls with Gavels!

, Anna Quindlen writes about women who struggled to balance work and family, while many guys still assume that they will balance work and family by getting married. According to a survey done for the Ms. Foundation for women about changing social roles, over half the people believed that men and women are treated differently in the workplace. There are recent improvements in womens access to be successful in the working place. Theres a photograph from one Take Our Daughters to Work Day on my desk that sums it all up for me, Quindlen says. She says that there is no chance of either of us hearing woman" and "judge in the same sentence when we were in her age. The women will continue striving for their rights. In the essay, Girls Will Be Girls. Unfortunately., Ellen Goodman writes that, after the Columbine killings, many people worried about being bullies schoolboys. However, people now are starting to worry about schoolgirls. In fact, girls can be as mean as boys. Many girls are not innocent; in other words, they can be vicious. Girls are not victims, but they are bullies. They do not fight with their fists, but they fight with argument. Its the way boys are masculinized and the way girls are feminized that turns some of them into bullies, Marie Wilson, president of the Ms. Foundation, says. Parents should step into childrens situations to make them feel strong and safe. In the essay, The Single-Sex Solution: Is There a Way That Separate Can Be Even Better Than Equal?, Ronald Schachter talks about the Thurgood Marshall School which is trying to demonstrate that the single-sex public education can make a positive difference by separating classes by sex. When girls are separated from their male counterparts, they will perform better, especially in mathematics and science. Boys who are in the risk of dropping out, have learned needs that can be best addressed in an all-male environment. A teacher thinks that the girls can focus without the boys since they do not need to worry about doing something that the boys will make fun of. They know that the boys influence them, and they really do have more confidence to speak for themselves when boys aren't there. Now it's to the point that even if there are boys in the room, the girls don't care. They have enough confidence to speak out and say what they feel, says fourth-grade teacher Casie Baddeley of her students. On the contrary, boys have a harder time to concentrate than girls do. According to the Brighter Choice Foundation, 17 single-sex schools were up and running when this

school year began. The charters also ranged from elementary to high school programs and reached from California to New York. Other countries are interested in starting single-sex schools of their own. It can effectively give students a better academic environment. In Beauty and the Beast, Dave Barry stated a difference between men and women. Men do not care about their appearance as much as women really do. Having an average look does not matter for men. On the contrary, women do not look at themselves this way (371). They will always be dissatisfied with their looks. This low self-esteem comes from what they always dealt with in their childhood, which is Barbie. Therefore, women grow up thinking they need to look like Barbie, which for most women is impossible, although there is a multibillion-dollar beauty industry devoted to convincing women that they must try (371). Women always make any effort to beautify their appearance. For this thing, Barry claimed that men actually do not notice every detail of womens beauty.

I have seen many different characteristics of boys and girls. Sometimes, girls will be two-faced. Many girls talk about people behind their backs, but they act nice in front of the people. Girls will use verbal bullying instead of physical bullying. I think verbal bullying can be worse than physical bullying. It will not hurt people physically, but it will hurt peoples feelings for a long time. On the other hand, boys always do more physical bullying than verbal bullying. Boys will express their anger by fighting. However, girls will express their anger by being silent. Getting along with boys will sometimes be easier that getting along with girls, because we do not know exactly girls characteristics from the first impression. They can act differently in different situations. Works Cited Quindlen, Anna. "Horrors! Girls With Gavels!." Newsweek 139.15 (2002): 64. MAS Ultra - School Edition. Web. 3 May 2012.
