General Installation Overview


Follow the guidelines in this booklet when setting up the machine and installing each software. Please read all procedures completely before attempting to setup this machine.

Turning the Power Switches ON.


1 Turn ON ( ) the Main Power Switch, and
then turn ON ( ) the Power Switch. Main Power Switch : Rear of the machine. Power Switch : Left side of the machine.

Setting up the Network Configuration.


Setup the Network Configuration using the Control Panel of the machine. (See pages 4-6) Network Configuration should be setup by the System Administrator.

Installing the Printer/Fax Driver.


Printer Driver
The printer driver installation may differ depending on the system environment of your office. Please consult with your System Administrator before installation. Each printer driver (For Windows Network Connection and USB Connection) can be used without problems when each driver is individually installed.

Power Switch

Main Power Switch When connecting the USB Cable, do not turn the Power Switch of the machine to the ON ( ) position until instructed to do so on the PC screen.

Windows Network Connection:


There are 2 typical ways to install a printer driver. (A) Peer to Peer Connection (Direct Connection) Installing the Printer Driver on your PC. (See pages 8-10) (B) Network Print Server Connection 1 Setup your Network Print Server. Installing the Printer Driver on the Network Print Server and configure the Shared permissions. (See pages 11-20) 2 Setting up your client PC. Connect your client PC to the Shared Printer on your Network Print Server. (See page 21)

the machine.

USB Cable LAN Cable

Local (USB) Connection:


Installing the Printer Driver on your PC. (See pages 22-27) Telephone Line Cable This machine is USB 2.0 compliant, and backward compatible with the standard USB revision 1.1. When connecting the USB Cable, do not turn the Power Switch of the machine to the ON ( ) position until instructed to do so on the PC screen. When connecting to the USB 2.0 port of your PC, use a USB 2.0 High Speed Cable for better performance.

External Telephone Cable

USB Cable is used for Local Printer connection. Telephone Cable is used for connecting the optional Fax Communication Board (Order Number: DA-FG320) to the telephone line.

Fax Driver
Installing the Fax Driver on your PC. (See pages 28-31)

NOTE

Setting up Optional Accessories.


Network Scanner Function
Requires the installation of Network Scanner/Email Module (Order Number: DA-NS320/NS321), Hard Disk Drive Unit (Order Number: DA-HD32), Main Memory (Order Number: DA-EMN56) and Page Memory (Order Number: DA-PMN56). 1 Installing the Panasonic Document Management System on your PC. (See pages 32-35) 2 Setting up the Scanner Configuration using the Communications Utility. (See page 37)

When using the Printer on the MacOS network environment, the optional Printer Controller Module (for Adobe PostScript 3) (order number: DAMC320) is required. When using the Printer on the Netware network environment, the IPX/SPX software setup utility is required. Refer to the Operating Instruction (For IPX-SPX setup utility) on the provided CD-ROM. When there are two printer drivers (for Windows Network Connection and USB Connection) for the same model, each printer driver can be used normally. The Print driver can be selected from the Printer List of the Print Screen within the application software. Printer from the Network Print Server Connection The Print Server name will be automatically added. Peer to Peer Connection (Direct Connection) will not add the Print Server name. Change the Printer Name using the Windows Printer Settings for future usage convenience.

Facsimile Function
Requires the installation of Fax Communication Board (Order Number: DA-FG320). 1 Setting up the User Parameters (Logo, Character ID, and ID Number). (See pages 38 and 39) 2 Register the Address Book. Refer to Address Book (Facsimile) in the Operating Instructions (For Basic Operations) of provided booklet.

Email Function
Requires the installation of Network Scanner/Email Module (Order Number: DANS320/NS321), Hard Disk Drive Unit (Order Number: DA-HD32), Main Memory (Order Number: DA-EMN56) and Page Memory (Order Number: DA-PMN56). 1 Setting up the Network Configurations. (See pages 40-44) 2 Register the Address Book. Refer to Address Book (Email) in the Operating Instructions (For Basic Operations) of provided booklet. Printer of Peer to Peer Connection (Direct Connection)

Internet Fax Function


Requires the installation of Internet Fax Module (Order Number: DA-NF320). 1 Setting up the Network Configuration using the Control Panel of the machine. (See pages 40-44) 2 Register the Address Book. Refer to Address Book (Internet Fax) in the Operating Instructions (For Basic Operations) of provided booklet.

General Installation Overview

Network Configuration
Follow the procedure below if your network is not configured with the DHCP server, and the TCP/IP parameters must be setup manually. - IP Address - Subnet Mask - Default Gateway

Before executing the procedures described below, make sure the Print On Line LED is lit.

Enter the Key Operator's ID Code (4 digits), and then select "OK".

Press the Function key.


Function Key

Print On Line LED Please wait until the Print On Line LED is ON before pressing the Function Key.

Default identification code is "0000". To change this identification code, please contact system administrator.

Select "General Settings".

Select "25 DHCP Default". If DHCP Default is set to "Yes", change the setting to "No", and then select "OK".

Select "09 Key Operator Mode".

Select "26 TCP/IP Address".

Enter the IP Address, and then select "OK".


Ex: 192.168.1.100

Enter the Subnet Mask, and then select "OK".


Ex: 255.255.225.1

When entering a 1 or 2-digit number segment, add "00" or "0" in front of the number to scroll to the next segment of numbers, or press the " key on the Control Panel to enter a " period after the number. or to To correct a mistake, press move the cursor to the right side of the incorrect address. To delete, press "Clear", and re-enter the correct address.

Installing the Printer Driver on your PC

Insert the "Panasonic Document Management System" CD-ROM. The Panasonic-DMS opening screen is displayed.

Click "Next" on the welcome screen.

If the CD-ROM does not launch automatically, double click "My Computer" on the Desktop or on the Start menu, and then double click the CD-ROM icon.

Click Printer Driver / Fax Driver .

Click on the desired language.

Click "Printer Driver".

Click "Install Printer Driver".

Select "Enable Communications (Recommended)", and then click "Next".

The InstallShield Wizard screen is displayed.

Above screen will be displayed when you have installed the Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Check "Use your machine as a Network Printer", and then click "Next".

Check "I accept the terms of the license agreement", and then click "Next".

If you wish to use your machine as a Local USB printer, see pages 22-27. Before clicking "Next", make sure that your machine is connected to the network properly, and the Power Switch is ON.

The Wizard automatically searches for machines connected to your network, and displays the found units in the Network Printer window.

Click "Yes" if you wish to change the current default printer to your machine.

Above Screen will not be shown when installing the printer driver for the first time.

Only the machines connected to the same subnet can to be used as a network printer. If your machine has not been connected to the network yet, enter its allocated IP Address, and then click "Next" to proceed with the installation.

The setup status progress screen of the new software installation is displayed.

1. Installing the Printer Driver onto the Network Print Server.

Insert the "Panasonic Document Management System" CD-ROM. The Panasonic-DMS opening screen is displayed.

Check "Share this printer", and then enter the Share Name.

Click on the "Sharing" tab.

Setting up your Client PC

Open the Printers and Faxes window.

Drag-and-drop the printer icon onto the Printer and Faxes window.

Click "Start", right-click "My Computer", and then select "Explore".

Verify that the Printer icon is copied onto the window.

Select the Printer shared on your Printer Server.

The illustrations shown for the previous steps are for Windows XP. The procedures for other Windows Operating Systems are basically the same, even though the screen displays may differ.

ATTENTION : Do not turn the Power Switch ON (on the left side of the machine) until you reach the step 13 (A, B ,C). Do not connect the USB Cable until notified to do so.

Make sure that your machine is connected to the network properly, and/or the Power Switch is ON before clicking "Next".

Select "Enable communications (Recommended)", and then click "Next".

Only the machines connected to the same subnet can to be used as a network MFP. If your machine has not been connected to the network yet, enter its allocated IP Address, and then click "Next" to proceed with the installation.

Insert the "Panasonic Document Management System" CD-ROM. The Panasonic-DMS opening screen is displayed.

Click "Next" on the welcome screen.

Network Scanner Settings (Option)


Scanner Setup Procedure

Scanning to PC 1. Installing the Panasonic Document Management System.


(See pages 32-35) Before being able to transfer scanned data to your PC, the Panasonic Document Management System must be installed, and the scanner configuration has to be setup on your PC first.

2. Setting up the Scanner Configuration using the Communications Utility.


(See page 37)

Scanning to SD Memory Card or PCMCIA/PC Card.


Scanned image data will transfer directly to the SD Memory Card or PCMCIA/PC Card. The Panasonic Document Management System is not required when scanning to SD Memory Card or PCMCIA/PC Card.

3. Check whether the Key Name ,set in the previous procedure, is displayed in the machine's Control Panel. For more details, refer to Scanning in the Operating Instructions (For Basic Operations) of provided booklet.
The Key Name will be disappeared automatically from the Control Panel when the PC is disconnected from the Network/turn off the power, or the Communication Utility Software is closed. On the machine's Control Panel, Key Names registered from the other PCs are also displayed.

Scan

or SD Memory Card PCMCIA/PC Card

WARNING
Keep the SD Memory Card out of the reach of children to prevent choking or poisoning. If an SD Memory Card is swallowed accidentally, get medical treatment immediately.

NOTE
The SD logo is a trademark. Be sure to use only Genuine SD Memory Card (up to 1 GB).

Setting up the Scanner Configuration using the Communications Utility

Right-Click "Panasonic Communications Utility" icon on the Task Bar, and then select "Scanner Configuration...".

Click "Add Device" if your PC address information is registered onto the machines located on the different subnet.

Check "Auto Registration", and then enter the Name and Key Name to be saved to the machine.

When the machine is not connect the network (LAN), change the DHCP Default setting to "No". (See page 4)

Press the Function key.

Enter the identification code (4 digits), and then select "OK".

The default identification code is "0000". To change this identification code, please contact system administrator.

Select "Fax/Email Settings".

Select "00 User Parameters".

Select "04 Key Operator Mode".

Select "01 Logo", and then enter your company's name or your name as a Logo using the Keyboard. (Up to 25 characters)

Select "03 ID No.", and then enter your fax number as the ID No. using the Keypad. (Up to 20 digits)

To correct a mistake, select [ ] or [ ] to move the cursor to the right side of the incorrect character. To delete, select "Back Space", and re-enter the correct character. Your company name or your name must be set as your Logo because it is required by the Telephone Consumer Act of 1991.

To correct a mistake, "Clear" to delete entries one digit at a time, and re-enter the correct number. Select " " in the beginning of the ID Number to add a "+" symbol, followed by your Country Code digit. Select "Space" to enter a blank space. 1. Setup the Network Configuration using the Control Panel of the machine.

Press the Function key.

2. If necessary, program the Address Book.


Refer to the Operating Instructions (For Basic Operations).

Select "General Settings".

The IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Address must be registered before setting up the network configuration. (See pages 4-6)

Select "09 Key Operator Mode".

Enter the Host Name, Domain Name, and DNS Server Address, and then select "OK".

Setting up the Completion Notice
Ex: Copy Job The Job Status Utility software is automatically installed when installing either the Printer with Job Status Utility or Fax Driver. The Job Status Utility software will display the pop-up Completion Notice on your PC screen when finishing the Print, PC Fax, Copy and Fax jobs. The information displayed in the Completion Notice vary according to the type of job being performed.

Basic Procedures:

Setting up for PC Fax and PC Print:

Right-click the Job Status Utility icon on the task bar and select "Setup" from the menu.
