This guide was created to give you an idea of the electronic resources that are available a t Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).
Once you have successfully logged onto UTAR network computing, you will see the screen below . Your Student Identification Number, Full Name, Login Time, Current Time as well as your Internet Access Hours Balance will be displayed on top of the screen.
LOGOUT
NOTE You should logout when you are finished with your task. If you have forgotten logout, your UTAR Network ID will be automatically locked by the system. Once your UTAR Network ID is locked, you will not be able to access any networked computer at the university. The only way to "Unlock" a locked UTAR Network ID is to contact our local computing help desks at your faculty.
To login to Student Portal, follow these step s : Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Go to http://www.utar.edu.my and then click on the UTAR Portal link next to the Search bar. Enter your username (Student Identification Number) Enter your password (New Identification Card Number with Hyphen) Click Login to access StudentPortal.
NOTE If you have forgotten your password, you must visit your local computing help desk in person to have it reset by presenting your Student ID Card.
When you log on for the first time, you will be prompted to read the Terms of Usage of the Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICTC). Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Scroll down to read the Terms of Usage carefully. Check the checkbox to indicate that you have read, understand and accept the preceding paragraph. If you agree to our terms, click I Accept to continue.
Once you have accepted the Terms of Usage of the Information Communication and Technology Centre (ICTC), you will be asked to verify your personal information that is currently held in Universitys database. You only need to enter this information once ; thereafter it will be used for the University official matters and documents including your examination results, transcript and University Certificate. NOTE Please note that you will not be able to update your personal information once you have submitted this online verification form. Thus, you should contact Department of Admissions and Credit Evaluation (DACE) for amendments.
Description New services to students including announcement, convocation, USSDC Program m es, Student Code of Conduct, Verification Exercise, UTAR Survey etc. Information to support students in managing their programme of study. Includes details about academic calendar, academic honours, course syllabus, examination as well as timetable. Information and news from your society including regulations on societies and student activities and society committee member list information. A space for student to view their personal profile, change their password, register for WAP services and link to email account. Provides a gateway to other web-based services such as Web-Based Learning Environment (WBLE), UTAR Library OPAC, e-newspapers links etc. To enables students to view and print student bills as well as makes electronic payment via Public Bank's Internet Banking Service . To clear your browsers session and log out from Student Portal.

a.
Announcements You can get the latest news for important information from your University administration. Its your responsibility to read and attend to the announcement published for the students.
b. [Month & Year] Convocation You may view the detailed information about convocation ceremonies, etc. c. SSCU Programmes This programme enables students to acquire important work-related skills such as Communication skills, Leadership and Team-building skills, Emotional Intelligence, Thinking Skills and Entrepreneurial & Innovative skills. Please feel free to visit this programme, and download the Registration Form and email it to the SSCU email.
d. Student Code of Conduct The Student Code of Conduct is applicable to all students, undergraduate and graduate at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. The purpose of the Student Code of Conduct is to provide guidelines for appropriate student behaviour essential to the UTAR community and its educational mission. e. Verification Exercise To view previously submitted personal information, click on Verification Exercise . You will not be able to change any previous information for your personal profile that has already been submitted. In case of an error in your personal profile, please contact Department of Admissions and Evaluation (DACE) for amendments.

UTAR Survey At the end of the course semester, you will be asked to provide feedback on your experience of studying and teaching performance of your lecturers . There are two (2) evaluation forms used at UTAR. Student Feedback on Unit Evaluation form Student Evaluation of Lecturer Teaching Performance Form Any answers and comments you made are anonymous to your course lecturers.

Academic Calendar This page contains the official University Academic Calendar. The calendar is a comprehensive guide to semester dates (examination, study weeks, and semester breaks) and P ublic Holidays through out the year .
b. Academic Honours You may view a list of students who have excellent academic achievements at each respective faculty of each semester.

Course Structure You may view the descriptions for all subjects covered in your course. In any cases, you fail to view your course syllabus, please check with your nearest Faculty General Officer.
d. Credit Unit You can check the status of your unit exemption, internal credit transfer and unit(s) repeats or resits at the stipulated date and time .

Examination Use this module to download past exam paper for entire course, check grades, view examination assessments & awards, regulations and location.
f.
Timetable The timetable for your courses is provided in this page. In any cases, you fail to view your timetable, please check with your nearest Faculty General Officer.

Society Announcements Get the most current and comprehensive information on your joined society activities.
b. Society Committee Member This page contains a list of committee members and contact details of the society. You also can recruit new members within a stipulated period if you have granted permission to recruit member.
NOTE Only students who have joined a society as a member can view their members list. If the society you have joined is not shown on this page, you should contact your nearest Department of Student Affairs - Division of Clubs & Societies. Otherwise, you will not be entitled for Student Testimonial when you graduate.

Society Maintenance Student who is elected as a Secretary or Chairman in a particular society will automatically have permission to access this module. It allows students to view or edit the detailed contact member information as well as to generate a payment report.

My Account

My Profile View your personal information and addresses. Its your responsibility to keep your details up to date by informing Department of Admissions and Credit Evaluation (DACE) if there are changes to your profile e.g. addresses.

Change Password
You can change your password at any time. Our system may take up to 2 hours for your new password to be put in place depends on your campus location.
You are required to register before using this service. Once you have registered, you can immediately enjoy our services that include: Supplementary Examination Result Enquiry Main Examination Result Enquiry
Our WAP site address can be reached from mobile device at http://wap.utar.edu.my. NOTE To use UTAR WAP services, you must have a WAP enabled mobile phone and then configure your mobile phone to use GPRS b ased on your mobile service providers settings.

My Billing
This page enables the students to view and print the current bill, overdue bill as well as the payment history. For more information, please download the User Guide under My Billing tab.

Log Out
To ensure system security, you should Logout from the Student Portal once you have completed your tasks to prevent unauthorised personnel from accessing the system using your ID.

Student E-Mail
As a new student, you are given a student email account that serves as the primary means of communication between you and the University. You will receive 2 MB of space for email with this account. The default address format is username@mail2.utar.edu.my.

Help Desk
The Help Desk is open from 8.30am until 5.00m Monday to Frida y, 8.30am to 1.00pm Saturday to provide personalized assistance to you. Help Desks provide support for student queries relating to: Assistance to access the UTAR computing network, Internet, email, Student Portal etc Top up of extra Internet access hours Check your Internet usage Registration for Wireless Internet Access Technical support PC and Printer in the Lab Collection of New/Replacement Student ID card

General Rules Wear your I.D. cards in a proper visible position Observe the dress code of UTAR Leave your bags at the shelf provided outside the computer laboratories Keep noise to a minimum Switch off your hand phone No food or drink is allowed in the computer labs Use the computer facilities for purposes related to University work or study only and not for business or other profit generating purposes
Rules of Use of Facilities Do not disclose your password or allow other persons to use your account. You will be held responsible for any improper use of the computer facilities via your password. Do not access or modify files or information belonging to any other user of the University. Do not transmit offensive or obscene materials. Users shall not view or download pornographic materials in any form. Do not install any unauthorized or unlicensed software into the computers Do not utilize the computer facilities for any activities which breach the law or Copyright Act or UTAR rules and regulations Do not tamper with the default settings for hardware and software of any computer, printer or any other associated equipment. If there are problems or faults, report them immediately to the Computer Lab Administrator. Do not remove any equipment from the Computer Laboratories. Theft of equipment is a crime. Violators will be prosecuted. All computer users are liable for any damage to equipment due to their own negligence. The ICT Centre reserves the right to suspend computer users from using the computer facilities if they are found to have breached any of the rules and regulations stated above.
