Shepherds Bible Romans chapter 8

CHAPTER 8

# This chapter is written on the third level, or specifically to the elect.

1. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ

Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

# Bear in mind, though we are still in the flesh, it is the Holy Spirit we
seek.

2. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free
from the law of sin and death.

# Remember, there’s only one way - in Jesus Christ and through Jesus
Christ.

3. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh,
God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin,
condemned sin in the flesh.

#The law can’t bring you salvation, because you’d have to live a perfect
life from a babe to death and in the flesh, this is impossible; but
through faith in Christ, we know His crucifixion and resurrection bring
us salvation.

4. That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk
not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

# Think a moment of the future when this man of sin, or death, Lucifer,
will appear to deceive us. You know that this false Christ will appear
before Jesus Christ does, and there is no way that the elect who walk
after the Spirit will bend a knee to Satan.

5. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but
they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

# The Spirit is the true Spirit and the true Christ.

6. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life

and peace.

# How do you gain peace? In John 8:32, you are told you will know the
truth and the truth shall set you free. So you must learn the whole
truth by studying the Word. You must learn who the elect are and what
their purpose is. This knowledge will bring you life and peace.

7. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject
to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

#The carnal mind is an enemy of God and will always be so, as a matter
of fact.

8. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

# It is true that in the flesh, we’ll continue to make mistakes and

cannot wholly please God, but be assured when we ask Him for help,
He will give it.

9. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of
God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is
none of His.
# Now who’s in the Spirit of Christ? ..the elect This again proves that
only through Christ, believing and accepting Christ, can we reach life,
peace and salvation.

10. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the
Spirit is life because of righteousness.

# In other words, the body dies because of Adams sin in the very
beginning, and you all know what that was, but the spirit body may live
for an eternity.

11. But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in
you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your
mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.

# God himself shall raise you and remember what the Greek meaning is
for “resurrect”. One of its meanings is standing up, so by standing up
for Christ, you are resurrected in Christ. But it also means to return to
the spiritual truth and in this you are raised to a higher level of
spiritual thinking.

12. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after
the flesh.

13. For if ye live after the flesh ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit
do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

#Paul says here we owe a duty not to the flesh but to God. If you put to
death the deeds of the carnal body, you will live by the spirit body. Now
naturally we will remain in these mortal bodies until He sees fit to
change or bring about our destiny.

14. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of
God.

# Those who follow Him, who accept Him, they are the sons of God.

15. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye
have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

# Or, Father, Father.

# The churches teach hell and damnation, and Paul says here, I don’t
want you to be fearful. You weren’t brought into Christ to be put in
bondage and to live in fear. Remember also that he’s writing to the
elect.

16. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the
children of God:

# He dwells in us and we dwell in Him.

17. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ;
if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together.

# This time is soon coming for the elect, when this dispensation ends.

18. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

# It means if we suffer with Him and for Him a little bit now, it matters
not as we will also be glorified with Him.

19. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the
manifestation of the sons of God.

# The manifestation of the sons of God will be in the millennium when

we shall be priests and teachers and sons. Everything in creation waits
for this time. Even the earth itself waits to he put back where storms,
earthquakes and this sort of thing are taken away, as it was in the
Garden of Eden, when a veil of mist watered the earth each night, and
storms were unnecessary.

20. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by
reason of Him who hath subjected the same in hope.

# The Greek word meaning creature is used interchangeably with the

word creation. One way of translating this then is that all creation was
not made fertile in its own right but by Him who created it, again
emphasizing that it waits within itself for the millennium.

21. Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage
of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

# The earth shall be made perfect again:

no foreign thistles or tares. And the creature shall he delivered from
the corruption of sin and death unto the glorious freedom of the
children of God. Again remember, Paul is writing to the elect, or true
Israel.

22. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in
pain together until now.
23. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of
the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves waiting for the
adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

# The firstfruits, or the elect. What Paul is saying here is that even the
elect as we are placed in this flesh body to accomplish the plan of God
and bring about His purpose, even we look forward to this day when
we will be removed from this dispensation and released
from thepolitical governmental system
which is the beast mentioned in Rev. 3:1.

24. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for
what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
# In other words, Paul says if we had seen it, we would no longer hope
for it, but it is ahead of us and we still hope.

25. But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait
for it.

# Through hope, we learn patience and with patience, still hope.

26. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not
what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot he uttered.

# This says we often don’t know what to do or how to pray, but have
you ever wondered that you took a certain direction or made a
particular decision? Paul says here when the Spirit is in you and you’re
in the Spirit, He guides you and takes you where He would have you go.
27. And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the
Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the saints according to the
will of God.

#God knows what’s in your hearts and leads and guides you through
the Holy Spirit that intercedes for you.

28. And we know that all things work together for good to them that
love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

# All things work to the good for the elect, whom God has called to
accomplish His plan. These are they who will stand up to the false
christ in the confrontation that is soon to come.

29. For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to he

conformed to the image of His son, that He might he the firstborn
among many brethren.

# God destined those who stood for Him before the foundations of the
world to share the likeness of His son that they might stand with Christ
during the millennium and teach all others the truth.

30. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and

whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them
He also glorified.

# Now I want you to catch the full depth of this. The elect (whom He
chose because they stood with Him when Satan fell, before the
foundations of the world that is,) these He justified, because they
earned the right in the spirit in the world that was. Justified means the
elect were declared innocent of all things of this world and also were
glorified at that time. That’s why you are called or chosen to stand
against Lucifer this second time. You were called even before you
walked this earth in the flesh. (The subject of the world that was is
covered further in our study on Identity).

31. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can
be against us?

# Truly, we have nought to fear from any man.

32. He that spared not his own Son, but delivered Him up for us all,
how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

33. Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that
justifieth.

34. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that
is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh
intercession for us.

# God has justified us and Christ speaks for us. Who would dare to
charge us with anything?

35. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or
distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

# Who or what has the power to separate us from Christ’s love? Or

would we allow tribulations, etc. to turn us away from Christ’s love?

36. As it is written, For Thy sake, we are killed all the day long: we are
accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
# As it is written in Mark and many other places, you will be delivered
up to the synagogue in the last days. For what purpose? To be a
witness... to carry the gospel to the whole world, and remember, the
Holy Spirit will be speaking through your lips at this time.

37. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him
that loved us.

# We will overcome!

38. For Iam persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

#Paul says here, he’s certain that absolutely nothing in this world is
able to separate us from God’s love, which is in Jesus Christ.

# This chapter is written specifically to you, who are the elect, to

explain the nearness of God’s love. He dwells in you, as you dwell in
Him. He leads and guides you and you can shoulder the tribulations
that come to you because of the great glory that He has in store for you
in the near future.
