Fact Sheet & FaQS

What
iS changing and Why?

For more than ten years, our Canadian operating arm - ForestEthics Canada - has been operating as a project of Tides Canada Initiatives and fully within the confines of Canadian charitable tax law, which permits charitable organizations to spend up to 10% of their time and resources on political advocacy. In this time in Canadas history and in the global movement toward clean energy, we feel there is an urgent need to protect the worlds last remaining forests and what is needed is not less advocacy, but more; not less environmental protection, but more. On April 17, 2012, we launched ForestEthics Advocacy Association and ForestEthics Solutions Society to strike back against the Canadian governments crackdown on charitable groups, as well as its gutting of even the most basic environmental protections.
