Directing

Management literature describes numerous styles, but I believe there are only three main styles which are directing, discussing and delegating, the three management styles. Among them I most interested in directing style. As this style is a one way communication, the manager speaks, employees listen and react, the manager provide detailed instructions so that employees know exactly what to do. Moreover, they are the one to set up short-term Gold, when gold are specific and time bounded, employees are clear on what is expected. Gold and deadlines often motivate workers. In the field of decision making, the manager do most of it, when problems arise, they can give an immediately decisions and directs employees as what action to take. Monitoring also a advantage point of this style, managers provide frequent feedback including specific instructions on how to performance by establishing specific control points. On the other hand, directing styles have major weakness. As the information only comes downward, employees may feel unpleasant and lost, in specific, if employees have better ideas than their boss, the manager likely to crush it in instance while keep following his/her mind, normal worker cant find any opportunities to develop themselves and easily quit the job. Then, employees may work in a strict schedule made by the boss, living under the huge pressure of finishing the company gold, otherwise, being fired and punishment are considerable. Although directing style has both strength and weakness, I really like this because it can help controlling company systems fluently and solving problems easily

Manager using this type usually explain or get agreement on what has to be accomplished and when it must be completed, also communicating with employees by one or two way communication. If any occasions happened, the manager may ask employees for solutions or made their own decision. The same things appeared in Gold-setting, specific gold may be established by the manager or may evolve after a discussion between manager and employees. In this way, the boss can have much choice on making the decisions as well as establishing gold. While the style focuses only on the result of the work, the employees have the power to take appropriate actions to achieve the desired gold. On the contrary, the style of delegating also shows failures. As the decision is up to the employees, they may find difficulty in accomplished the task, the managers give no direction to help, in additional, the manager must avoid reserve delegation when employees try to give back decisions that they should be making. Moreover, the field of monitoring and providing feedback depending on employees, they have responsibilities to keep the manager informed, and if the plan is off track, the manager would be the last person to know it, leading to plan tardiness and may affect badly the company business. Although delegating style has both strength and weakness, I really like this because it gives the manager many choices in advance not only in the field of decision making but also giving the employees chances to perform the job in their way.

They always listen to every ideas, spending time talking and giving question to draw out stunning ideas. More, the managers increase employees commitment to achieve their gold by asking them to give opinions on short-term gold and then established it after an adequate discussion. In a field of decision making, it is made collaboratively. Both manager and employees play an active role in defining problems, evaluating options and making decisions. On the other side, discussing style also leave problems. Time consumption is one of that. As the decision are made by the discussion, if the plan is off track

or problems appeared, the manager wont have an immediately direction for the employees to take action but to discuss with their staff to have a best solution, this critical issues may end the company opportunities and slowing down the plan project. In the term of monitoring, the manager and employee monitor performance in the same time. This only best when both parties are open and make adjustment as needed, otherwise will leading to a serious conflict between the boss and the workers due to failures in decisions agreement and sharing profits. Although discussing style has both strength and weakness, I really like this because it gives the employees power to act as a manager in the company, providing opportunities for them to develop as well as improvement in performance.
