Cleared PMP Exam in my first attempt on May 02, 2012

Hi all, I am a regular visitor to this forum and learnt a lot from other's experience posted here. It is my turn (and duty too)now to write my experience in this forum. Took the exam on May 2nd in Atlanta, GA and here is my result. Initiation - Proficient Planning - Moderately Proficient Executing - Moderately Proficient Monitoring & Controlling - Moderately Proficient Closing - Proficient (started Initiation with "Proficient" and finished Closing with "Proficient" Books Studied (in this Order) 1. Head First 2. Rita 6 3. PMBOK 4. Head First (Second time) 5. Rita 6 (Second Time) 6. PMBOK (Second time) 7. Raga's 355 points (Whenever I was driving, my wife used to read it for me in the car) 8. Rajesh Nair's PMP notes (Started and completed on May 1st - just a day before my exam) Exams Tried: I did NOT take any 200 questions mock exam . (My first exam with 200 questions was the actual PMP exam yesterday) But took the practise exams given after each chapters from the following books. 1. Head First 2. Rita 3. Kim Heldman (very old version - used Book - bought for $5-Did not read the book, only exams) 4. PMP Exam Practise questions/solutions by Aileen Ellis (Used Book) 5. PMZilla Tough questions (I studied chapter by chapter and did not try all 200 questions in one day). Background: I attended a PMP training class in Chennai, India when I visited India last October. I started my preparation on November 20, 2011. Applied for the exam in January 2012 and got approved in few days. Scheduled my exam for April 2, 2012 and due to my work related travel and new home building process, I had to postpone my exam to May 2, 2012. Exam Preparation: Studied 2 hours per day and 4 hours during weekend. After I finished the following exams, I took notes and that really helped me a lot during the days before actual exam. 1. PMZilla Tough exam (Really worth buying) 2. Kim Heldman (a good choice) )

3. Aileen Experience at Exam Center: Had my appoitment at 12:30 PM ET and reached the center at 11:30 AM. Within few minutes, they allowed me to take the exam. I did not have to wait till 12:30 PM. My overall experience with the exam center was wonderful. During the Exam: After reading the experience of many people from this forum, I was mentally prepared that the first 50 questions were going to be tough. But, I did not feel like that during the exam. After finishing 100 questions in 90 minutes, I was started feeling that I was going to make it. I finished all 200 questions in 3 hours 10 minutes including marked questions. Some of the questions were very tricky, confusing and misleading. Preparation from Rita, PMZilla tough exam and Kim really helped me a lot. I did NOT take any break as I did not feel to take a break.

As some of the members said, this exam is not very easy and at the same time, it is not very tough too. Right preparation and self confidence will help you to get there.
