Introduction
Facing a stronger competition, businesses must be dynamic and reactive in order to keep their customers and continue sales. This responsiveness is only possible through the use of communication tools. Corporate image is conveyed across all media. The fixed or mobile phone remains the most widely used tool but other means are also used to communicate with customers or suppliers. An internet website presents its products. The chat, video conferencing, or application sharing allow remote people to work on common projects while being at remote sites. Unified communications and collaboration solutions provide important gains for teams productivity. They allow to greatly improve the image of the company and also to effectively answer to the needs of customers or leads. Because these new communication solutions are open to market standards and based on SIP protocol, they reduce costs by giving access to offers of alternative operators. And because they can be fully integrated on the IT infrastructure, deployment and installation costs will be optimized. Aastra 5000 brings these Unified Communication solutions. Acquiring an Aastra 5000 solution is a guarantee of sustainability of business investment.

Telephony VPN
The Aastra 5000 telephony VPN (Virtual Private Network), based on MOVACS (Multiswitch Original Virtual Addressing Communication System) signalling, allows full transparency of the services between the different sites, such as call by name, filtering and mobility services. The company can manage several sites from a single point, which allows high flexibility. On this network, the companys call distribution service is managed effectively, regardless of its topology, thanks to the sharing of resources like voicemail services.
Dual homing
In an Aastra 5000 multi-site, resiliency may be provided for wired IP phones, through the dual-homing feature. When a second node IP address is configured in the IP phone, it will be able to access to the service on the second node, when the first one does not answer anymore. This is managed automatically by the phone (nothing to do for the user). Most of the services are available on the second node, except the integrated voice mail, the hunting groups, the free-seating and the CSTA supervision. This feature requires IP Dual-homing licenses on the first node.
Centralised Management
When Aastra 5000 and Aastra X Series systems are networked, Aastra Management 7450 software facilitates the administrators day-to-day activities by centralising management operations. This essential part provides value-added services such as: full management of users (subscribers, rights, keys, voicemail box, etc.) real-time supervision of Aastra 5000 and AX Series systems on a graphic map preventive and corrective network maintenance services connectors to corporate directories such as Microsoft Active Directory Aastra Phone Suite, a web administration service, enabling an enduser to program their keys and print out their labels

Group telephony To reach a service, calls arrive in a hunt group and are distributed to available terminals in the group. Each hunt group may have: its own pre-off-hook music its own music-on-hold its own overflow service its own forwarding number Call supervision and pick-up inside the group: on a terminal, each hunt group member is represented by a key associated with an indicator light; therefore, it is possible to: quickly reach a colleague by pressing the corresponding key see the status of other terminals (free or busy), and to pick up a call in case of no answer
47
Customisable voice mailbox: . personal greeting message . vocal signature by name . forwarding to voicemail: it can be set to immediate, on no answer, or on busy, and it is possible to set voicemail to answering machine . message backup, even in case of mains failure Indication of unread messages: . message when the handset is lifted (for any terminal type*) . indicator light/lamp message (for IP, SIP and digital terminals) . display on screen (for IP, SIP and digital terminals with a display) . time stamp Consultation of messages from any telephone with keys
* Except IP terminals
E-voicemail function The e-voicemail function integrated with the IPBXs (by default, or licence to be ordered according to model) enables you to listen to your voice messages directly from your email system. You can interface with the major email systems on the market, thanks to its openness and compliance with standards (POP3 and SNMP). When a message is left on the voicemail box, you are either notified by e-mail, or the message is sent to the email system in .wav format. If the telephone terminal allows it, you are also notified about the message there (the indicator light or icon flashes faster). When the message is read in the electronic messaging system, a notification is sent to the IPBX. The terminals message indicator light then returns to its previous position. Read messages are automatically deleted from the IPBX (within an interval defined by the administrator). You do not need to have any external server to use this e-voicemail function.
48

Supervision of other employees terminals Before transfer, it is possible to check that the requested terminal is free. Integration with Exchange From the directory, it is also possible to view the presence status, or even the calendar. Nuisance call management The agent can indicate a nuisance call with a single mouse click. Future calls from this person can be routed specially (to a particular number, for instance) and displayed on the agent interface.
