DESCRIPTION OF THE SPECIFYC CASE In the Barcel enterprise SA de CV has detected an area of opportunity in the water distribution has been located in a centrifugal pump that frequently has problems with its operation to the bearings, as well as the mechanical seal failures. As a result there is a lot of production and has not been able to fulfill orders on time and required by the customer due to stoppages of the production line. The maintenance department is causing delays in the time of compliance with customers and at the same time breaking the chain of production affecting the quality of materials and services the company provides. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE (Eliciting ideas) De-energize and lock the pumpDecoupling the pump motor. Disarm the bomb ends to remove the impeller and bearing caps. Use a bearing puller to remove the damaged bearings. Loosen sure to remove mechanical seal damage. The cleaning of mechanical parts and replace bearings and mechanical seal. Assemble the pump and put in place. Test and monitor equipment performance.

STRATEGY (Follow up, what you do to develop the project,) Search bearings suitable for the intended application as well as the mechanical seal.Search for suppliers to offer other proposals for high quality and reliability of the parts required for this type of centrifugal pump.Modify the preventive maintenance program to reduce and identify potential failures and likewise reduce line stoppages in production.Seek to have a stock of spare parts for this pump in order to reduce maintenance time.
