Job Interview Practice

Conduct a panel interview of one of your peers. A panel interview consists of more than one interviewer and a single interviewee. Many interviews are conducted as a panel to prevent bias during the interview process. It is important that everyone on the panel is familiar with the interview questions, so please take a moment to review them as a group. You should assign certain interview questions to different members of the panel so that the interview does not feel like an interrogation to the interviewee. All members should take this interview seriously and maintain a professional demeanor throughout. Ensure that the interviewee takes time to reflect on the questions before answering to provide a succinct answer. At the end of the interview, complete the interview evaluation sheet for your fellow student. This evaluation sheet is a tool for everyone to use to help improve their interviewing skills. A. Start the interview with introductions. Time the interview. It should not exceed 30 minutes. B. Ask the interviewee how they heard about the job opening. (this is great research for your facility to know which marketing strategies are working and it helps to relax the interviewee.) C. Start the interview process.
