About using DLO Administration Server on VMware ESX: DLO supports the Administration server and the DLO database on VMware ESX server 3.x and 4.x. Ensure that your virtual environment meets all the hardware requirements and the recommendations that VMware specifies. Hardware that VMware does not support may cause unknown issues. For example, DLO may not function correctly if your virtual machine hardware does not support VMware. See the VMware documentation for information on supported configuration.

Note: Upgrade to DLO 6.1 MP7 is supported from the following Server/Client versions: 6.0 MP3, 6.1 GA, 6.1 MP1, 6.1 MP2, 6.1 MP3, 6.1 MP4, 6.1 MP5A and 6.1 MP6

About using DLO Maintenance Server on VMware ESX: The maintenance server should be installed on a physical system. Installing the maintenance server on VMware can lead to performance issues. Symantec recommends that the storage location should be located on a physical system and not in a VMware environment. Having a storage location on VMware may lead to performance issues. Intensive I/O activities like data migration or reporting may take a longer time than expected.

The DLO Desktop Agent is not supported on Microsoft Server operating systems such as Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2, Windows Server 2003, Windows Storage Server 2003, and Windows Server 2000. Note 1: The Desktop Agent will install and run on 64-bit platform in 32-bit compatibility mode. Note 2: 64-bit DLO Agent is installed on 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7 if and only if the Agents machine's default mail client is 64-bit Microsoft Outlook 2010. In all other cases, the Desktop Agent will install and run on 64-bit platform in 32-bit compatibility mode. Note 3: The default installation path of the Agent during installation in 64-bit machines remains C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\NBUDLO\DLO irrespective of 32-bit or 64-bit DLO Agent being installed. Users can install the DLO Agent to other folders of their choice by changing the path during installation.

Note 1: Lotus Notes 8.5 and later is not supported. Note 2: New PST Backup functionality: DLO 6.1 MP5A and above versions provides a new method (VSS option) for taking backup of PST file(s) in addition to existing message level Incremental (MAPI) and Non-incremental (Non-MAPI) backup methods supported in DLO 6.1 MP4. The new method uses Volume Shadow Services (VSS) framework provided by Microsoft on Windows platform. Please read the DLO 6.1 MP5A Readme document to obtain more information about this feature. This ReadMe also provides compatibility details with the different supported Office versions for this new PST backup method.
