Introduction Sinhala-Tamil translator works as a translation tool between Sinhala and Tamil. This enables the user to translate the meaning of a sentence to Sinhala or Tamil. Sinhala-Tamil translator aims to ease the communication between parties where the language becomes a barrier.

Installation

System Requirements: 1. Operating System: Windows XP or Windows Vista 2. Memory: 256MB (512MB recommended) 3. HDD space: 50MB of free memory Installation steps

1. Execute the setup application that the below window will appear.

2. Click Next button. The Below window will appear.

3. You have the option of changing the installation location and can proceed by clicking the Next button The below window will appear

4. Click Next Button to continue

5. Click close to complete the installation 6. After successful installation, the Sinhala-Tamil translator icon will be on the user desktop. 7. Run the application that the icon will come to the task bar as given below

8. Right click on the icon and select Settings option to customize the application.

9.1 Settings Available options are given below Gateway: The URL which connects to the server Auto Submit: In case of IRC (Internet relay Chat) session, after the text is translated, the need of pressing Enter key is avoided. Concat Text: The original text is not replaced by translated text Select Only Highlighted: Only selected text will be translated Translate: If the text is typed in Sinhala, text is translated in to Tamil and if the text is typed in Tamil, text is translated into Sinhala. Transliterate to English: Text displays how it will be pronounced in English Translate to Sinhala: Tamil text is translated to Sinhala Transliterate: The text is translated how it is pronounced Transliterate to Tamil: The Tamil text is translated how it is pronounced

How to use
1. Type the text in Sinhala or Tamil (Unicode). 2. Select the text and press Ctrl+T. After a while the text will be translated

For web service users (Programmers)

The user can pass the text to the web service and can retrieve the translated text. The URL and the attributes are given below URL: http://202.176.209.76/TranslatorSinTam/?src=p Modes 0 = Translated automatically 1 = Transliterate 2 = Transliterate to English 3 = Transliterate to Tamil 4 = Transliterate to Sinhala
