Previously in Cardax FT Command Centre, FT items could only be represented on site plans via the standard item icon, with only the default action for the item available when double clicked. Command Centre v5.20 greatly expands the functionality and usability of site plans by providing more options for displaying FT items on site plans, providing status information about these items, and defining the default actions relating to clicking on these items.
Configurable Lines, Areas, and Rectangles From Command Centre v5.20, FT Items can be represented on site plans via a number of configurable shapes, including lines, areas and rectangles. FT Items typically represented by lines on a site plan would most likely be fence or other perimeter security alarm zones. Areas might typically be used to display an area covered by an alarm zone or by a particular input (eg. A PIR), or used to enact the default action of another FT item (eg. An arrow associated to another site plan, which when clicked opens a corresponding site plan). Rectangles would commonly be used to provide a background box for text, or for providing buttons on site plans linked to Macros.

The fill colour for each line/area/rectangle can be individually selected, along with the level of transparency, allowing the background image to show through the line/area/rectangle overlay. Once created, a line/area/rectangle can be associated with any valid FT item. The status of the associated item can be shown on the item fill colour, with the fill colour matching pre-configured, user definable colours for each item state. The alarm condition of the FT item is also visible on the associated line/area/rectangle, with the border of the line/area/rectangle flashing when in active alarm. FT Items represented on a site plan by a line/area/rectangle can be hidden, leaving the line/area/rectangle as the items only visual representation on the site plan.
Touch Screen Support The default action for any FT item represented by a line/area/rectangle on a site plan can now be configured to be enacted by either a single or double mouse click. While providing additional mouse options, this also allows the default action to be enacted via a single touch on a touch screen.

Biometric Fingerprint Verification, which matches a pre-saved fingerprint template on a card against a finger presented at a reader, is now available. Along with finger only Identification (introduced in Command Centre v5.10), Cardax FT provides a seamless path for integrating leading biometric technology into your security management system.
Architecture The Cardax FT SAGEM Fingerprint Reader Verification integration incorporates the following architecture:
Ethernet
A users fingerprint is first enrolled, then encoded on a Mifare smartcard, all via the Cardax FT Command Centre user interface within 1-2 minutes. The user can immediately present the card at a SAGEM fingerprint reader, which depending on the access method implemented will request a card, and/or fingerprint, and/or PIN. Once the user is correctly authenticated, the Cardax Controller decides whether or not the user may enter an area. The reader settings and optional reader monitoring are configured centrally from the Cardax FT Command Centre user interface and communicated with the readers via Ethernet.
Greater Security - Areas requiring highly secure access are recommended to implement access rules based on a combination of something you know, something you have, and something you area. Biometric verification allows this by combining a Mifare smartcard (something you have), encoded with your fingerprint template (something you are), with your

user PIN (something you know). Fingerprint templates are stored in secured, encrypted sectors of the Mifare card. Validating the correct person at the reader - Biometric authentication ensures that the person presenting themselves at the reader is really who they purport to be. This is particularly crucial for time and attendance reporting, to avoid one person badging in for multiple people, or where the identity of the person who gained access may be challenged in a court of law. Seamless Enrolment and Encoding - Fingerprint enrolment is conducted from the Cardax FT Command Centre user interface. Once two fingers are enrolled, a card can be immediately encoded with this information, along with Cardax card reader information, all in one pass. Interoperability with standard card readers - SAGEM Fingerprint readers can be installed in certain high security areas of a site (eg. Server rooms, payroll offices), while other Cardax Mifare card readers may be used elsewhere on site. The one card can be used with both readers across all of the site. Individually adjustable access modes - Each SAGEM reader can be individually configured depending on the security level required. The readers can even mandate that some people require card + finger to enter an area, while others require finger only to enter the same area. Privacy support options - The integration supports several privacy options which help allay privacy concerns around using biometrics. Those who have concerns with their fingerprint templates being stored on a central database can opt for the privacy encoding setting, which encodes the fingerprint template directly onto their card, and is never stored in a central database. Those who refuse to, or are not able to provide fingerprints, can optionally be given card only access at the SAGEM readers.
Card Encoding - Fingerprint Templates A new cardholder tab, Print/Encode, has been created, to allow quick card printing and encoding for individual cardholders. Sites with a valid Photo ID optional feature license can both print and encode Cardax and SAGEM fingerprint data from this tab, while sites with only the SAGEM integration are limited to encoding fingerprint data only. Printing and encoding can be accomplished within seconds, with the user interface providing feedback when encoding has been successfully completed.

SAGEM Reader Configuration SAGEM Fingerprint Readers are now configured directly from the Command Centre user interface. Operators can set the IP Address, False Acceptance Rate, and Authentication Mode for each reader, as well as choosing to display the user name at the reader on successful access (MA5xx models only), whether to automatically resynchronise the readers, and whether to enable optional reader monitoring.
Licensing This is a licensed feature, requiring the following licensing: Sagem readers purchased from GSMS each come with a Sagem Reader Integration License (part# 2A8951) at no additional cost, which is updated on the site license, allowing the site to create each Sagem reader in Command Centre. SAGEM readers purchased elsewhere are required to purchase this license for each reader. The Command Centre Server, and each FT Workstation used to enrol fingerprints, must have a Sagem MACI license/Verif Dongle pair (part# C864401) to enable fingerprint enrolment and template management. Only one pair is required if enrolment occurs on the same machine as the Command Centre Server.

Configuration wizards aim to simplify hardware and software installation for new installers, and allow quicker site configuration for existing installers. Prior to Command Centre v5.20, the Quickstart Wizard only covered a portion of Cardax FT hardware, and offered limited functionality for improving the speed of installations. The Command Centre v5.20 Configuration Wizard now covers the majority of Cardax FT hardware, and provides significant advancements for both new and existing Cardax installers.
Configuration Wizard New Hardware Wizards The Configuration Wizard now supports all FT Controllers, including the Controller 3000-8R, 3000-4R, 5000GL and 5000 Controllers. GBUS devices are also supported by the Configuration Wizard, including the GBUS Input Board, I/O Expansion Board and High Density I/O Expansion Board. In addition, the Configuration Wizard also now supports a Door Wizard, which allows quick and easy configuration of new doors, including optional creation of a GBUS URI associated with the door, or direct connection of reader and door I/O to an existing Controller.
Configuration Wizard Improved Functionality Each individual hardware wizard has now been re-ordered, with information that is unique for most new hardware items in the first wizard pages. The wizard now allow an installer to click Finish once all mandatory unique hardware information has been completed, saving default values for the hardware. In this manner, a new Controller or GBUS device with all connections can be now be created within two wizard pages.

Another wizard improvement includes an automated naming and numbering convention to all reader and I/O items based on the device name. In addition, the wizard allows Contact ID CCC codes to be automatically populated (ie. filled with the next free Contact ID codes), or populated from an indicated point (ie. CCC codes from a certain number onwards).

Wizard Templates A powerful new configuration tool has been added to Command Centre v5.20, in the form of Wizard Templates. A Cardax FT installer can now save templates for typical hardware and door configurations including naming and numbering conventions to reuse when creating additional items. These Wizard Templates can be reused on the same site for quick hardware creation, or saved for use on different sites, where an installer uses standard configuration settings across sites.

Command Centre workstations can now be configured to allow operators to use their Cardax Mifare smartcard to log on or off Command Centre. When enabled, the Smart Card Logon feature can allow an operator to place their Mifare smartcard on a Cardax Mifare Encoder Unit (part# C41006) which is connected to the workstation via a USB cable. On correct validation of the operators card, the operator is logged on to FT Command Centre. Operators can optionally be required to also enter their log on password.
Once an operator has finished their session on Command Centre and removed their Cardax Mifare smartcard, a preset card removal time counts down before the operator is logged off. A warning time can also be displayed before log off, to ensure that the operator has intentionally removed their card from the Encoder Unit. In addition, exiting the Command Centre application on the workstation can now be disabled, ensuring that the Command Centre log on screen is always available when an operator has logged off.

Security Escort Interface Security Escort is a wireless help-call system, produced by Bosch Security Systems, that allows a user to signal the need for help in the event of an emergency. The systems consists of a network of transmitters, receivers and transponders linked to a central computer designed to provide a means of alerting security personnel to potential personal safety problems. The Cardax FT Controller API Security Escort Interface allows these alarms, including the users or assets name, description and current location, to be raised within Command Centre. These alarms can then be responded to via FT alarms management, displayed in an appropriate location on an FT site plan, and recorded in the FT database.
