Watch OUT!abnormal heat and a building ridge is seen over central areas this week and tries to take hold for even longer. Extreme net drying is seen over half a dozen states, and moderate drying over a dozen more, from CO to OH to FL and E Mexico for the week ahead. The only cooling will be across the N Plains on Thursday with 60s there, and 70s into the C Plains. Heat settles across the South and takes a devastating toll by late in the week...100s into TX early, and widespread 90s later in the week (next Sunday shown below). The heat will be slow to diminish week #2, as a variation of model output is still debating this issue.

The GFS says the ridge briefly breaks down after this week, but large crop areas at the point of weather change (8-9 days out), will have all ready seen some tough weather. Left map shows lower than normal heights across the nation after a week to 10 days of abnormal ridging and significant net drying. (see expected 7 day net drying top of page).
