4. Guidelines to study the subject
The basic guidelines to study this subject are:
1. The student should know some statistical tools like mean, median , mode and probability. 2. It is desirable that students should know the statistical software or at least excel. 3. Students are required to know some basic mathematical shortcuts for calculations. 4. The students are required to read the relevant book (as told by the faculty) and the study material/notes given to them. 5. The students are required to be regular to their classes. 6. The students are required to complete all the assignments given to them. 7. The students are required to make and deliver the presentations given to them.

Understand the major capabilities and limitations of deterministic operations research modeling as applied to problems in industry or government. Develop the skills to consider real-world problems and determine whether or not linear programming is an appropriate modeling framework. Improve the ability to simplify complicated situation using mathematical models. Develop the skills to consider real world problem and determine whether or not management science is an appropriate framework model. Relate the curse material and O.R. techniques to research activities. Develop the abilities to approach problem by using a systematic analytical process. Implement mathematical models an a computer and understand the resulting output. Solve linear problemming problem by their own without the help of computer. Know how to represent many optimization problems as network to simplify the solutions Use tools like transportation and assignment which is use for business decision making.
