A REPORT ON MAWLID CELEBRATION 1433H IN SK TANJONG AGAS TERMS : CURRICULAR

REPORT: Every year, the arrival of Rabi'ul Awal is awaited by Muslims all over the world. They are looking forward to commemorate the birth of the beloved Noble Prophet Muhammad. His beginning has changed human civilization from the darkness of ignorance to Islam as well as from the oppression of human sentencebased on justice proceedings of Islam. This could ensure the happiness in the world and hereafter. The victory of Prophet Muhammad was followed by Rightly-Guided Caliphs and their successors have led to the stable establishment of a civilization in producing good individuals and nation simultaneously in order to achieve happiness in this world and hereafter. Based on this spirit, Islamic Education Panels has organized the Mawlid celebration 1433H with a variety of programs to enhance students' personality fit with the mission and vision of the school. The purpose of Mawlid celebration is to foster a sense of greatness to beloved Prophet Muhammad as well as to enhance pupils understanding towards his beautiful history. Other than that, the celebration can also instill a sense of responsibility to preserve the sanctity of Islam history. It is also hoped that all the school community could apply Prophets narration in everyday life to realize the achievement. Besides that, the celebration can also foster the spirit of fraternity

among the school community as well as the society nearby. Last but not least, it also can strengthen students' personality in line with the mission and vision of the school. Thus, last 17th February 2012, SK Tanjong Agas had organized the event. It started at 7.30 am, all the pupils, teachers and PTA committee members had gathered at the assembly site. The pupils of year 3, 4, 5 and 6 were divided into their own clubs and societies whereas children of year 1and 2 were grouped as one. The preschool pupils as well as KEMAS Nursery were also participated in the parade. The children who participated in the parade held signs and banners representing their own clubs and society. Some of the banners were made by the teachers themselves. All the boys wore Baju Melayu whereas the girls wore Baju Kurung and scarves. At 8.00 am, the pupils marched from Tanjong Agas KEMAS Nursery until they reached the school field. While marching, all the pupils and teachers as well as PTA members were praying loudly upon Prophet Nabi Muhammad S.A.W. on which the invocation was led by Imam Hj Sulaiman and Mr. Pak Ungku (Head of Kg Tg Agas JKKK). As they reached the school field, the pupils needed to stand in the line according to their own group respectively, for judges wanted to choose the best banner of Mawlid Celebration for this year. The judges were PTA President; En.Roslan bin Jidin, Headmistress of SK Tanjong Agas; Pn.Siti Rokiah bt Hj Daud and Senior Teacher of Administration; Pn.Roslina bt Abd Rahim. After the parade, all the pupils were required to assemble at the school hall, Dewan Ilmu to participate in the Colouring Contest for Level 1 pupils and Calligraphy Competition for Level 2 pupils. However, the activity needed to be stopped for a moment since the invited speaker had arrived. About 9.00 am, the speaker delivered a lecture regarding about the history of the Prophet S.A.W.. At the end of the lecture, students were asked several questions and to those lucky ones who can answer the questions posted by the speaker will be given a memento. Done listening to lectures, the pupils enjoyed SK Tanjong Agas nasyid group and also poem recitation. Then, they went for a recess and continue the activities which had been stopped earlier. After the event finished, all of them cooperated in clearing up the school so that the school was free from unwanted rubbish. All the winners would be announced during the school assembly next week.

Findings: The organization of this program will enhance the importance of love and affection towards Rasulullah SAW. The rewards will be given to those who always praying for Him. This program also could educate the pupils soul to always emulate the qualities and characters of the Prophet. Weaknesses: In every program organized, there are always shortcomings that could not be avoided. The same goes to this Mawlid Celebration. There are complaints from the teachers about the tasks they must perform. Other than that, during the event, it could be noticed that the control over pupils was less taken by teachers. However, it could be overcome calmly. Finally, there was lack of cooperation from the teachers. Strength: When there is weakness, there is strength too. It could be conclude that this event has strengthen relations among the community regardless inside or outside the school. It also increases the communitys faith and trust in Allah and His Messenger. During the event, all the pupils showed big interest in hearing the lecture and also working hard in colouring and calligraphy activities. It is very great that the program goes well as being planned. Improvements: In order to organize a better event next year, several steps of improvements must be taken into account. This includes briefing on the assignment for all teachers and also description of the road for the parade.
