B AILEY’S HAS BEEN a leader in

small-scale wood processing equip-

ment for over 36 years. We are contin-

ually searching the world for new, cost-effec- tive products to process standing trees into saleable goods. Our products cover the com- plete spectrum of forestry, from professional chain saws and safety equipment to portable sawmilling and moulding capabilities.

MAJOR PRODUCTS

Bailey’s offers a wide spectrum of processing equipment:

Lucas Portable Sawmills. The Lucas

sawmill has been an incredible success in the woods of North America. These unique, swingblade sawmills handle all sizes of logs, including logs up to 6 feet in diameter. This mill demonstrated just how efficient it can be during the 2011 Great Portable Sawmill Shoot-Out when the Lucas team cut a total of 417.9 board feet per hour at 16% greater than the log scale.

Logosol Planer/Moulders. These 4-head

moulders turn rough-sawn lumber into a finished product, often worth much more. These ingenious machines will surface all four sides of a board in one pass, and give you the option of several hundred different knife designs to make just about any shape imaginable.

4K Dry Kiln. The perfect

dry kiln for portable sawmills. This kiln will dry up to 4,000 BF of green 4/4 hardwood in about five weeks, using only 450 kWh of energy. This kiln uses an efficient dehumidifica- tion process to dry difficult woods with ease.

Log Trailers and Grapples.

We offer several log-trailer and

grapple systems so you can easi- ly transport timber. These grap- ple systems range from off-road ATV sizes to 10-ton models for larger trucks.

Band Saw Mills. We offer band mills from a fully manual version to a fully hydraulic version with computer setworks. The mills we offer can have a variety of options, ranging from 12 hp to 86 hp.

Sharpeners and Setters. Our Cat Claw Sharpener has been one of the bestselling sharpeners in the United States for years. Its heavy frame and grinding motors, along with the precision with which it grinds, make it a favorite among sawyers. It is the industry standard. We offer both a single tooth or dual tooth setter. The dual tooth is also available in both manual and automatic. Our dual tooth setter is known for being effort- less at setting teeth.

I T WAS OVER 35 YEARS AGO that

saw business. At that time Kenneth

Cook’s Saw began working in the circle

Cook was a full-time preacher with a wife and three hungry boys to feed, and so he started hammering circle blades in his spare time. He proved to have a relentless drive for perfection at hammering circle saws, and, before long, his reputation had grown to the point where he was driving a 100- mile-radius route and servicing sawyers in three states. His boys were also hammering and replacing the circle saw teeth late at night, even on school nights, and, as a result, they, too, gained a tremendous amount of knowl- edge about the sawmill industry. In the early 1980s circle saws began to give way to smaller band sawmills. It was around this time that Tim Cook (second oldest) developed the Cat Claw Sharpener to sharpen band blades. Today, it continues to be one of the best- selling sharpeners in the United States.

Due to its strong foundation in circle blade technology, Cook’s was able to transi- tion effectively and early to the band blade market. Starting by welding band blades, Cook’s Saw produced blades that would hold up in the cut with no blade breakage. Soon the business grew from 500 to 1,000 to 2,000 to 5,000, and then on to 10,000 plus. It was from these humble beginnings that the Cook family moved on to building band mills, edgers, resaws, sharpeners, set- ters, and more.

Wood-Mizer fearlessly participates in the famed Great Portable Sawmill Shootout so you can see the “Proof’s in the Performance.” Not all sawmill manufacturers put their reputation on the line and take that challenge. In 2011, Wood-Mizer mills came out in force again. Here are a few highlights:

The LT70 proved that it could keep up just fine with a mill 3,000 pounds heavier and $5,000 more expensive. The LT70 sawed at a rate of 1,227 BF/HR with an edger, shattering Wood-Mizer’s advertised rate of up to 850 BF/HR.

The LT35 proved that it could nearly triple Wood-Mizer’s advertised rate of 350 BF/HR. When the official tally came in, the LT35 with an edger was clocked at 920 BF/HR.

The LT15GO finished first in the manual sawmill competition, sawing at a rate of 701 BF/HR with an edger, almost tripling its advertised rate, and finished ahead of the nearest competitor by more than 20 minutes.

Kiln-direct

CORPORATE DESCRIPTION

K ILN-DIRECT, located near Wilmington, North Carolina, pro- duces between 50 and 100 kilns

annually. The company is the largest provider of pallet kilns and firewood kilns in the U.S. and offers a line of small to mid- size lumber kilns containing all the bells and whistles of large industrial lumber kilns. In 2009 Kiln-direct launched a new high-tem- perature kiln for drying and heat-treating firewood using either gas or wood waste for heating. Kiln-direct was founded in 1994 by Niels Jorgensen, but its roots date back three decades to Wooddryer System, started by Valde Jorgensen, Niels’s father. In 2001 the two companies were merged at the North Carolina location, where they are focused on serving both their domestic and internation- al customers. The new Quick firewood kiln comes in

two sizes, MiniQuick (6 cord) and SmallQuick (12 cord). The Quick firewood kilns are guaranteed to dry firewood in two days, but many customers dry firewood in 24 to 48 hours to a seasoned product (depending on the species and heat fuel type). The small lumber kilns are delivered as one unit. They start at 8,000 BF capacity and range up to 18,000 BF of 4/4 lumber using 3/4 stickers. The midsize lumber kilns are available in two modules, starting at 20,000 BF capacity and going up to 30,000 BF for the largest units. All lumber kilns are constructed using aluminum for the structure, outside and inside sheeting, and they include a full-featured computerized control system with an optional integrated MC meter.

L OG-MASTER Portable Sawmill Manufacturing builds six models ranging from 13 hp to 85 hp in gas or

diesel. We build the heaviest and most powerful personal sawmills; the LM-1, and the fully hydraulic Caterpillar- and Cummins-powered sawmills that cut logs up to 24 feet long by 36 inches in diameter. In addition, we build two models of edgers.

The Logosol PH260 was the first small 4-head planer available in the U.S. The company focuses on simple, solu- tion-driven designs that provide long service with minimum expense. Their attention to machines that provide value-added capability

has resulted in many existing sawmill owners moving into new markets. Recently Logosol has joined forces with Bailey’s to provide the best in U.S. distribution and customer serv- ice. All Logosol products may now be ordered on-line through the Logosol store at Baileysonline.com.

MARKETS SERVED

Logosol is currently focused on two markets:

the weekend miller, and the professional sawmiller who is looking to add value to his products. Logosol has focused on bringing education and solid, safe products to the new sawmillers by providing information along with precision woodworking machinery and proven milling techniques to get new sawmillers up to speed as quickly as possible. With the new PH360 machine, Logosol brings

its unique approach to equipment design to the professional sawmiller. This machinery provides a reasonably priced way for sawmillers to enter new markets with mini- mum risk exposure. Logosol also provides a way for these new value-added customers to grow as they continually add new knife pat- terns to their unique insert-tooling catalog.

MAJOR PRODUCTS

Sawmills. The M7 sawmill provides a ver- satile milling solution for those who want to cut their own lumber. As it comes from the factory, the mill can cut up to 16.5-foot logs. Extensions are available for even longer logs, which makes the M7 a perfect tool for those doing timber-frame or log-home projects. It can be powered by a gas or electric chain saw and can cut logs up to 36 inches in diameter, and even larger with some unique milling techniques.

The Woodworkers Mill is a 9-foot version

of the M7 and provides an economical milling solution for those who want to mill their own lumber for woodworking activities. This com- pact mill is a great resource for milling small logs, large crotches, standard logs for project lumber, and a host of other activities. Logosol supports this mill with a website full of infor- mation and a book, Sawmilling for Woodworkers, which is designed to be a com- panion to this mill and the Timberjig.

The Timberjig turns your saw into a portable sawmill. This lightweight, unique mill is made to be cost-effective, easy, and fun to use. Multitek North America LLC

CORPORATE DESCRIPTION

M ULTITEK North America LLC is the worldwide leader in firewood processing equipment. Multitek

specializes in firewood processing equip- ment that meets the rigorous demands of its customers and withstands the test of time. With an emphasis on innovation, Multitek has brought many of the leading features in firewood production to market. This includes the patented overhead shuttle grap- ple, the patented packaging wedge system, the wood tumbler, and the most recent development—a patented guillotine-style circular saw option for its latest machine (1620 SS). Multitek products are sold throughout North America, South America,

Europe, Australia, South Africa, and Asia. The 1620 SS is a very fast and economi- cal small-diameter machine. With a patent- pending 40-inch, guillotine circular saw cutting method, the machine produces 2- plus cords of firewood with logs up to 16

inches in diameter. The machine boasts a powerful 35-hp turbo diesel engine and consumes a little more than one gallon of diesel per operating hour. This machine is the fastest, lowest-maintenance small- diameter machine on the market today. This machine is well suited for the growing firewood business.

The 2025ldcs firewood processor features the patented Multitek exclusive overhead shuttle grapple for feeding in the lowest- grade crooked logs. The overhead shuttle grapple serves as the machine’s log infeed system, and eliminates the clamp function found on other machines. The 2025ldcs is very well suited for the high-volume produc- er and features a low-maintenance 48-inch, carbide circular saw, or a bar and chain cut- ting system. The 3040XP2 firewood processor is the most rugged-built largest firewood proces- sor available. This machine features a 115- hp, turbo-charged diesel engine and weighs in at nearly 20,000 pounds. This machine is designed to take logs as small as 3 inches in diameter to logs as large as 34 inches in diameter, and turn out a high-quality finished fire- wood product. A lmost everyone has owned something that doesn’t quit. Maybe you’ve owned a vehicle that ran and ran and earned your

affection and admiration over the years. Nyle builds lumber dryers like that. Few days go by without someone phoning with really great things to say about his usually venerable and always reliable Nyle equipment. We are proud of that record, so we work to maintain the high standards that keep the good reports coming in. Nyle builds lumber dryers for every applica- tion. We specialize in dehumidification units for good reasons: They are efficient both from a cost-to-purchase and a cost-to-own basis, they do a really great job drying wood, they are easy to run, and they last. We also build kiln cham- bers or provide made-to-order packages for those who choose to build their own chambers. We build kiln doors and fan trusses; we fit kilns for steam or hot water or hot oil. We perform highly custom services to suit our customers’ needs, but our specialty is dehumidification drying and we try very hard to be the best at it.

CORPORATE DESCRIPTION

S UFFOLK MACHINERY is a leading developer and marketer of superior band mill and resaw blades and also a

manufacturer of equipment and accessories used throughout the wood processing indus- try. All products are sold under the Timber Wolf® and Suffolk brand.

MARKETS SERVED

Suffolk’s products are designed for the indi- vidual sawyer as well as large producers who are looking for superior blades and/or the highest-quality equipment and accessories available.

MAJOR PRODUCTS

Band Mill and Resaw Blades. Suffolk produces low-tension, Swedish silicon steel blades from 1 to 2 inches wide for many applications. Suffolk is the only company that mills and induction-hardens the teeth in every blade that’s made. Suffolk’s blades are used on everything from the smallest to the largest band mills and resaws. (Call Suffolk for a free test blade and product video.)

New Automatic Oil-Cooled Blade Sharpener. Suffolk recently introduced a new fully automatic sharpener capable of sharpening 1- to 3-inch-wide blades. This is the only machine that can use both 6-inch CBN as well as 6-inch conventional grinding wheels. It is equipped with an all-in-one control box, blade tooth counter, auto shut- off, emergency stop button, variable speed control, and 3/4-hp grinder motor. (See web- site for a video clip of this unit.)

Dual Tooth Setter. Suffolk’s blade setter will set two teeth at the same time to within 0.002 in two to three minutes. It can up-set teeth as well as down-set teeth and has the capability to find the teeth that are out beyond the desired set point. Urethane V-belts. These belts are designed to run on any mill

with pulleys as band wheels. They are tight- fitting, which eliminates 90% of the vibra- tion in the head and nothing will stick to the urethane.

Guide Systems. Suffolk’s guides adjust for 1-1/4- to 1-1/2-inch blades. They support and lubricate the top and bottom of the blade. They will increase the quality of your lumber, reduce the stress in the blade (increase life), and increase the productivity of your mill.

Accessories. Suffolk has a number of items that are critical to any sharpening facility, whether for individual use or if you run a sharpening service.

Sharpening Services. Suffolk has seven locations that will sharpen their blades as well as any other make of band mill and resaw blade. In 2011 Suffolk introduced a new 1-1/2-inch-by-0.052 blade to replace their current 0.056 blade. The new 1-1/2 inch is designed to run on both low- and high-pro- duction mills and resaws. This blade’s thick- ness is a perfect match for the gullet depth and width combined with milled and induc- tion-hardened teeth. It will allow for tremendous stability and overall life. In 2009 Suffolk introduced a 1-3/4-inch- by-0.052 blade which has a perfect balance of width, thickness, and gullet geometry to produce excellent run times, stability, and great overall blade life. This blade is designed to run on high production medi- um-size mills and resaws. Suffolk introduced a 2-inch-by-0.052 blade in 2004, which was specifically designed to cut grade lumber on high-pro- duction band resaws, such as the Brewco 1600/1800 and large band mills. This blade has exceeded expectations and has given customers both longer blade life and faster feed rates over the bimetal blades common- ly run on these saws. At approximately half the cost of a bimetal blade, this is a true moneymaker. Suffolk introduced a 1-1/4-inch-by-0.045 blade in 2004. This blade has become the company’s most successful 1-1/4-inch blade to date, running on medium-size band mills and resaws, exceeding sales of the 1-1/4- inch-by-0.042 by three times in the first year.

Wood-Mizer Products

CORPORATE DESCRIPTION

T ried, True, Trusted for 30 years. When Wood-Mizer founders Don Laskowski and Dan Tekulve invent-

ed the first portable band sawmill in 1982, they had little idea that that one machine would create a brand new industry that would fulfill a need for thousands of people. Now celebrating 30 years of building sawmills and serving customers, Wood- Mizer still stands apart among dozens of other sawmill manufacturers. No other com- pany can compare with Wood-Mizer’s exten- sive product offering, number of customer service representatives and locations, leg- endary reputation, easy offbearing sawmill bed design, and accumulated years of refinements and experience. The culmina- tion of it all is the ultimate product and ulti- mate customer experience people get when they choose Wood-Mizer.

MARKETS SERVED

Employee owned, customer focused, and family based, Wood-Mizer Products now serves customers from 20 North American locations and with nearly 100 international dealers and agents. Known by more than 50,000 customers as a company that embod-

ies old-fashioned values of integrity and American-made quality, Wood-Mizer works hard to constantly improve and innovate with their products and the support they offer around the world.

MAJOR PRODUCTS

Portable Sawmills – Now offering 12 sawmill models for 2012, Wood-Mizer pro- vides everyone from the weekend hobbyist to the production-minded business owner the perfect match for their needs. New for 2012 is the LT35 manual sawmill, which combines full electronic head controls with manual log handling for a bargain price of less than $15,000. The portable Wood-Mizer mills are well-known for their unique head and bed design that Wood-Mizer customers love for its easy offbearing and easy setup. No other mill on the market has as easy off- bearing and blade-changing convenience as the trapezoid bed and the time-tested can- tilever head allow.

Wood-Mizer Blades & Blade Maintenance – Wood-Mizer is the only sawmill manufacturer that produces its own blades. These blades feature high-quality steel and withstand rigorous testing to ensure quality and durability. Sharpening services are also available to increase pro- ductivity for Wood-Mizer blade users through the company’s ReSharp program. Blade maintenance equipment is also available for those who like to maintain their own blades. Wood Processing Equipment – Wood-Mizer offers single- and twin- blade edgers and a basic line of wood- drying kilns. Wood-Mizer also offers more mill attachments than any other sawmill manufacturer.
