Research Interests
Reversible Logic: By building computers that perform reversible logic operations, arbitrarily low levels of heat dissipation can be achieved. The downside is that reversible architectures can become quite complicated. As 2015 nears and the computing industry begins to approach the kT barrier, it is likely that compilers will be designed to maximize the number of thermodynamically reversible operations within conventional computing architectures. When we begin to consider computers constructed from very tiny and fast logic gates, as in nanocomputing, reversibility becomes an essential feature for keeping energy dissipation at tolerable levels. A discrete, deterministic computational process is said to be logically reversible if the transition function that maps old computational states to new ones is a one-to-one function ; i.e. the output logical states uniquely defines the input logical states of the computational operation. In order to achieve future high performance reversible computer, I would like to work in this area to develop basic building blocks of computing processors. Reversible logic intervention may identify valuable application in the domains like Nano electronics, Quantum Computation, Bio informatics, etc. Bio informatics: An organism is a complex system. The reductionist approach taken in biology has driven us to a point where we can recreate one of the simplest life forms (virus) and decode the genetic makeup of one of the most complex life forms (human). The objective in bioinformatics is to develop methods and tools to generate hypotheses from data obtained by a variety of approaches. There are many challenges that must be overcome to achieve this objective: (a) the increasing complexity of data and their associations to one another, (b) the diversity in the sources and formats in which data exist, (c) the variability of conditions and descriptions of experimentation, and (d) the quality of experimental evidence for data. Developing ways to meet these challenges must combine expertise not only in biology, but also in computer science, math, and engineering. I would like to support this domain by developing high search intensive search algorithms to meet out the applications like Protein database search, DNA sequence search etc.
