Spelman College: Instructor, Sociology 230: Poverty and Social Justice (Spring 2012) This self-designed course offered an interdisciplinary introduction to contemporary issues related to poverty and social justice activism in the U.S. using a critical race feminist lens. Clark Atlanta University: Instructor, Honors Colloquium, Black Self Concepts (Spring 2011) This self-designed online course for honors undergraduates explored historical and contemporary constructions of blackness across disciplines drawing upon psychological, sociological, literary, and spiritual texts. Instructor, Africana Womens Studies 490, Introduction to Womens Studies (Fall 2010) This self-designed upper-level undergraduate and graduate seminar and writing course offered an interdisciplinary introduction to black feminist thought and womanism in contemporary womens studies through a critical examination of scholarly articles/essays, novels, poetry, and film. Emory University: Instructor, American Studies 201, Introduction to American Studies (Summer 2011) This self-designed course explored topics related to the construction of American identities and American experience from the perspective of women using interdisciplinary research methods and texts by Caucasian, African-American, AsianAmerican, and indigenous scholars. Instructor, Interdisciplinary Studies 216, Introduction to Visual Culture (Spring 2009) This self-designed course explored the rise of televisual media in American culture specifically regarding implications for youth socialization using media studies, psychology, and anthropology scholarship. This intensive writing course developed online writing/media production skills using Blackboard, iMovie, and iTunesU and incorporated an engaged research component.
