ABOUT US PETTIGREW TEA ROOMS Pettigrew Tea Rooms is named in honour of Mr Andrew Pettigrew, the man employed as Head Gardener to the Marquess of Bute at Cardiff Castle between 1873 & 1903. This name perfectly heralds a new era in the life of the West Lodge which, for the first time, opens its doors to the public with our Tea Rooms, Gift Shop & Exhibition Space. THE WEST LODGE The beautiful West Lodge was designed by the architect Alexander Roos & completed in 1863. The West Lodge was originally set back from Castle Street & flanked with curved entrance walls for a more stately appearance. BUTE PARK & ARBORETUM Bute Park is internationally recognised for its Grade 1 listed historic designed landscape, scheduled ancient monument & arboretum with a wealth of archaeological & nature conservation. The park is currently undergoing a 5.6 million restoration project, supported by a 3.1 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore the parks important features, provide new facilities & help tell the story of Bute Park.
