Job Title: Restorative Nursing Assistant

I.

Purpose The primary purpose of your job position is to provide your assigned residents with routine daily Restorative nursing in accordance with our established Restorative Nursing procedures, and as directed by your supervisors. The nursing assistant reports any changes in the resident as they are noted. Qualifications Certified Nursing Assistant state approved course and experience in the long term care setting Other Skills and Abilities Required Ability to prioritize duties. Customer service oriented. Ability to understand and follow work assignments. Possess adequate strength and endurance to meet strenuous physical demands of such resident care responsibilities as lifting and moving residents. Possess coordination and dexterity required to provide resident care skillfully. Must be a team player.

Duties and Responsibilities A. Nursing Care Functions Assist residents with personal cares including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Assist the resident with the restorative nursing program including but not limited to, passive and active range of motion, ambulation with appropriate assistive devices and use transfer belt. Apply splints and braces in the a.m. as the order states. Take splints and braces off at the end of the shift and lock them in the restorative office. Follow all shift routines, policy, and procedures regarding accurate performance of vital signs, weights, etc. Deliver meals and assist residents with eating. Work closely with therapy departments for appropriate training on new functional maintenance programs and changes in restorative nursing procedures. Assist resident in transferring using a transfer belt, device, or appropriate lift maintaining resident safely at all times. Report promptly any change in the resident to the nurse. Respond to falls, injuries as directed.

Use proper body alignment when lifting. Reassure resident before/during restorative intervention. Provide information to the nurse on residents skin. Follow standard precautions and works with OSHA guidelines. Report any equipment malfunction to designated employee.

B. Documentation Use only authorized abbreviations established by this facility when recording information. Documentation of restorative nursing procedures per facility policy. Document on only approved assessments by supervisor. C. Personnel Functions Attend designated nursing meeting as scheduled. Develop and maintain a good working relationship with interdepartmental personnel. Attend education offerings and completes silverchair as required. D. Administrative Functions Report all accidents and incidents you observe on the shift/unit that they occur. Treat and ensure that residents are treated with respect and dignity. Immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect per facility protocol. Remain aware and take special precautions to ensure a clean and safe environment for residents and staff. E. Physical Requirements Ability to endure prolonged walking, sitting, standing, use of pulling, bending, stooping movements. Ability to adapt to changes in daily work hour and schedule. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
