Catholic Church Of The Most Holy Name And St Edward, King And Martyr
3rd June 2012. THE MOST HOLY TRINITY. YEAR B2.
Blessed Sacrament Procession: 10th June 5pm For some years now in our parish the First Holy Communion Sunday has been preceded by a Blessed Sacrament Procession on Corpus Christi. In addition to be a wonderful devotional celebration for the whole parish this has been an important way for our FHC children to focus themselves on the reality of Christ's presence in the Eucharist. The procession will be at 5pm on 10th June and the FHC Mass will be Sunday 17th June. (Fr Dylan) Food Bank Items Needed The Gillingham Food bank have contacted us to say that they urgent need the following items. Please leave donations in the usual basket in the church porch: Potato Packet Mash, Coffee small, Jam, Veg, Biscuits, Sugar (500g), Tea small, Treats, Fruit Juice, Packet Soup (Fr Dylan) First Holy Communion Mass 17th June, 11am Four children from our parish will be making their First Holy Communion this year. As always, it will be good to have a good crowd of parishioners to support them at the event. Please come along. (Fr Dylan) Parish Picnic Sunday July 22nd in the gardens of Sedgehill Manor. There will be trampolining, tennis and swimming for the young at heart. Croquet and conversation for those a little older. We can provide transport (Sedgehill is 3 miles out of town). We hope that some of our musicians will play to us during the course of the afternoon. Do put this date in your diary, and bring a picnic and your family with you. (Marian Bateson) Bishop's Visitation 23rd-24th June Every four years the Bishop comes and makes an official visitation of the parish. Its now our turn for him to come to us again on what might well be his last official visit to the parish as Bishop before retiring. Please come and welcome him at the weekend's Masses, and stay for a buffet lunch after the 11am Mass. Thanks to Marian Bateson for organising this and to all those who are preparing food. This is also an opportunity for individuals with various concerns to meet the Bishop privately. The Bishop will be available between 2pm-3.30pm Sunday 24th June and if you wish to make an appointment please let me know. (Fr Dylan) Bishop's Golden Anniversary Our Bishop celebrates the 50th anniversary of his priestly ordination on the 8th July. There will be a special Mass for him at Plymouth Cathedral on Sunday 8th July, 6pm, followed by buffet supper. Anyone wishing to attend can book one of our Shaftesbury parish seats, contact Cathedral House 01752-662537. (Fr Dylan)

Queen's Jubilee The nation and our town will be celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee on June 3rd with many parties and I'm sure many of you will be attending different events. Our Sunday Mass this weekend will be praying for her in a particular way and refer to her and the event with Scripture readings and prayers especially chosen for the event by our Bishops' Conference. (Fr

Appeal This Weekend: St Barnabas Society This weekend we are having an appeal at the end the Masses. We occasionally have such one-off appeals from organisations to let the inform us of their work. The St Barnabas Society (formerly the 'Converts Aid Society') supports non-Catholic clergy converting to Catholicism. Presently 10% of all priests in England and Wales and 20% of all active priests of the Plymouth Diocese are such clergy converts and we our them a great deal. For more information see: www.stbarnabassociety.org.uk

Seminarian Appeal Good news: Plymouth Diocese now has ten seminarians in training, nine more than four years ago. To help fund the greatly increased training costs, a diocesan wide appeal was launched last year. 240,000 has been raised but the Diocese is still in need of more funds if we are to secure our future. As last year, collection envelopes are available in the porch -please just put the envelopes in the normal Sunday collection and they'll be forwarded to the Diocese.
