While you're there, reboot the system toforce a memory reset and to make sure the machine will bootwhen you're not there in person. 17. Bring that can of air! It's still a good idea to blow the dust anddebris out of keyboards every now and then. And make surethere isn't dust accumulating on the back of the machine orwherever the air fan is located. a.Blowing out the inside of the comput er has a couple of pitfalls that must be addressed. First, since the pressure is much higher withcanned air, don't direct the air at an unsecured fan. Try using a pencilerasure to keep the fan from turning while you clean out the power supply and CPU. Blow out the power supply from the inside out first, or youll get tons of dust blown into the computer. Take each computer toa place that doesn't mind the dust, outdoors preferably. 18. Clean the keyboard . With the power off, tip or turn thekeyboard upside down and spray the loose articles out fromunder the keys using a can of air 19. Clean the CD-ROM drive . Clean the laser and tray 20. Clean the mouse. Make sure the mouse is free of dust andgrime. 21. Check the power sources. Make sure systems are plugged intoprotected outlets or power strip 22. Check the fan. Remember to check that the CPU's cooling fan isworking and that the airflow isn't impeded by dust.
