Chapter 4 VP Service
4.1 Service Description
4.1.1 Service Function
Video Phone (VP) service is one of 3G multimedia services. VP service takes advantage of synchronous and transparent BS30 data service. With the support of the UDI bearer service, video communication in the circuit domain can be realized, and video/audio communication between multimedia terminals can be provided. Besides, such multimedia services as video conference, Video on Demand (VoD) and mobile TV becomes available. Both parties of communication can be mobile multimedia terminals or one as a mobile terminal and the other as a fixed terminal. But all the terminals must support 3G-324M protocol. The MSOFTX3000 supports multimedia return function. During the call connection, a multimedia call may return to a common voice call when the GSM network is switched to. Besides, in the case of VP call failure, the failure cause cannot be made known to the user through a tone and the user interface is not so friendly due to the limitation of 3GPP code format. To solve this problem, Huawei proposes a solution of a USSD constructed on the MSC. Through the correspondence between failure cause and prompt information established on the MSC and a USSD constructed on the MSC, a failure prompt can be sent to users mobile screens.

The whole call procedure is divided into three phases: caller phase, called phase and backout phase.
I. Caller Phase
1) The UE sends a CM SERVICE REQUEST message to the network side. The message includes the following parameters: mobile identifiers (IMS, TMSI, IMEI), classmark2, CKSN, CM service request type (originating call establishment, emergency call establishment, short message service, supplement service and location service). 2) The network side may start authentication and encryption procedure. During the procedure, a procedure of asking for authentication set from the HLR/AUC may also be started. If there is no security management procedure, skip to the step 3. 3) After receiving a service acceptance message or completing encryption, the UE sends a SETUP message to the network. The message specifies the service as UDI and the transmission rate need negotiation with the mobile phone through H223&H245. The core network receives the SETUP message and returns a CALL PROCEEDING to the caller. 4) The caller starts to establish subscriber bearer plane. The MSC server distributes Prepare Bearer Req messages to the MGW. The MGW allocates ATM resources dynamically and returns TerminationId (T1) in the Prepare Bearer Rsp message. The MSC server initiates an RAB allocation procedure to RNS-O. The RNS-O establishes ATM bearer resource on the access side together with the MGW through the BEARER ESTABLISHMENT procedure. The procedure goes concurrently with the step 5. 5) The MSC server queries route information to the HLR. The HLR gets the roaming number from the VLR. The MSC server asks for incoming caller data from the VLR and triggers VLR paging procedure.
4-6
After receiving the ESTABLISH CONFIRM message, the RAN sends the RAB ASSIGNMENT RESPONSE message. 6) Then the core network waits for the called alerting, sends the ALERTING message to the caller, and sends the SEND TONE message to the MGW in order to send tone. 7) 8) The core network waits for the called to pick up the handset, receives the CONNECT message and sends the CONNECT message to the caller. After receiving the CONNECT message, the caller sends the STOP TONE message to the MGW in order to stop tone, and sends the CONNECT ACK message to the network. The network sends the CONNECT ACK message to the called. 9) The network transparently transports the 3G-324M (H223&H245) messages between UEs, and decides the transmission rate. (Currently, a mobile phone supports only 64kbit/s.) 10) The caller and the called enter to the conversation status.
You need not set the number analysis data again because the data is the same as those for voice calls. This chapter only describes the data configuration for sending call
