Overview
The Drilling Systems range of CT Simulators offer training in advanced coiled tubing operations, drilling well intervention and well control operations. The full size CTS-5000 and portable versions, the CTS-500 and CTS-50, are designed to meet the training requirements of Operators, Coiled Tubing Service Companies and Training Organisations for both onshore and offshore operational environments. Applicable to entry level or advanced engineering skills training, the simulators can be used to instruct individuals or complete coiled tubing crews. They are ideal for training personnel in equipment operations and advanced coiled tubing drilling well intervention and well control engineering techniques. The simulators can be used by an Instructor to demonstrate particular principles and operations, or by Trainees under the direction of an Instructor for training

Scope of Simulation
Normal Operation The simulation equipment is capable of providing a trainee with appropriate levels of training in the coiled tubing operations including well intervention and well control operations for a well that has been drilled down to a depth of 30,000 ft. During use of the Simulator, basic and advanced training can be given in: CT Operations Planning CT Equipment Sizing and Performance Injector Operational Control Reel Operational Control Stripper Operational Control Circulating System Operational Control Blowout Prevention System Operational Control Nitrogen Pumping and Console Control Drilling & Workover Fluids Control BHA selection from over 70 tools as well as check valves, nozzles etc Running In / Out Procedures Downhole Drilling with CT and Equipment Problems Pressure Testing Wellbore Clean up Operations Well Control Equipment Problems Crew Supervision Operational Effects During the course of an exercise, depending on the conditions selected, the simulator models a combination of the following effects: Coiled tubing Running/Pulling Operations Coiled tubing Drilling, Motor BHA, Milling Out Windows Nitrogen Lift Through Tubing Completion Work Well Testing Wellbore Clean-up, Sand Bridge Clean Out, Acid Job, etc Zone Isolation Fluid Placement Tagging Valves/Nipples Operational Malfunctions In addition to the Operational Effects, the Instructor can introduce a number of malfunctions which fall into the following categories. Equipment: Hydraulic Failures Borehole, e.g., tight hole and stuck coil Coil Problems, e.g., buckling and coil failure Injector Problems: tensioning problems, tubing run aways, coil lockups Hydro-Mechanical, e.g., Reel Tension Failure. Instrument, e.g. Pressure Gauge Failure. Stripper - packer leaks BOP - Ram Failure and Leaks Equipment Rig Up and Control Through the Student Touchscreen, the following equipment can be selected and congured: BOPs (Shear Seal, Combi, Tripple, Quad and Annular) Injector & Stripper Pump Tees Manifolds (Reel, Squeeze and Nitrogen) Front & Rear Pump Alignments Process / Solids Control Equipment Well Control / Well Intervention The simulators meet proposed regulatory requirements for simulation in Well Intervention and Well Control training equipment. The equipment and software provides maximum exibility and simulates a wide variety of well control methods. The model permits the kicking zone to be placed at any depth in the wellbore. Lost circulation zones can be selected at the bottom of the hole or at the casing shoe. Trainees can be faced with multiple kicks in the wellbore depending upon the exercise set up by the instructor. Causes of Kicks Kick Warning Signs Shut In Procedures Wait and Weight Method Driller s Method Volumetric Method Bullheading Concurrent Method of Well Control Down Hole Problems During Well Control
