Nicaraguan Touchstone

June 2012

Come, you who are blessed by my Father: take your inheritance, the Kingdom. Prepared fo.r you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Matthew 25: 3436

Greetings from Hot and humid Nicaragua. I just wanted to drop a little line to say that we are alive and well in the fields of harvest. So much has happened in the last few months it will be almost impossible to tell it all, but I will try to hit the highlights. The theme for the pas few months is build, build, build. A team from Johnstown Pa returned again in March to add another much needed asset to the compound, bathrooms. Over the 9 days that the team was here They were able to accomplish 1 & 1/2 bath houses built. Not only was this week a success in terms of goals accomplished, it was awesome to see family again and see old friends and build relationships with new ones. To the right is a picture of one of the bath houses. Owansa (awanna) started back up at the Goberadores del Rey church in La Paz Centro. With the first year behind them they were anxious to get going. Although after a break it was difficult to get the kids to return , after a few special events the number of kids swelled for a few weeks to almost 80 kids. The church is opening up to the neighborhoods surrounding the church and inviting new people to come experience Owansa. A new resource has been added and excitedly received. With several generous donations we were able to purchase a very detailed flannel graph set. It has become a staple for story time. We have also been able to utilize it in our street feedings as well.

Do you want to partner with the Speigles in their mission work? Contributions can be sent via: With the coming of winter here in Nicaragua (rainy season) we as a family have put forth renewed effort into building and finishing our house on the land. As we had left it with the walls built and the floors poured it had a lot of work to be done. In the past few weeks we have been able to finish the roof. Frame the interior walls, run electricity, and are currently beginning to start dry walling. We are working hard to be able to live there permanently by the end of June, when our lease expires in our current abode. This is very exciting for us to be in a place we can call home after almost 3 years of renting. As I sit here reliving the pas few months I am reminded of Gods great blessings He has bestowed upon us. To protection and sustained health, to friends who seem to drop a loine at just the right time, to the funds we have been able to put forth to continue building the house. It reminds me of how great a God we serve. I want thank all who continually support us financially and with prayer coverage. I pray that God continues to bless all who support us to be able to continue because we so greatly need it. Thank you and God Bless. John Speigle Re: John & Vanessa Speigle-
