Luke Roske-Metcalfe The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Dt 4:39-40; Rom 8: 14-17; Mt 28: 16-20 Jun 3, 2012 8th Sunday of Ordinary Time Last week we remembered the arrival of the Spirit to the first Christian community and celebrated the Spirits continued presence in this congregation. This morning we read how important it is to live knowing the Spirit is among us. This morning Paul reminds us that if we live by the Spirit, we will live. He also reminds us that the Spirit that we received frees us from fear and affirms that we are Gods children. The Spirits presence among us was most certainly seen last week during worship and fellowship during our shared meal. Thus, be confident that the Spirit is present with us today. Several weeks ago our church president invited us to prayerfully prepare for our congregational meeting. I trust that you have done this and as you may know, we will hold a congregational after the service to consider if we are a sustainable congregation. Just as you have prayerfully prepared for this meeting, I would like to pray together for a few minutes in preparation for the meeting. So, confident that the Spirit lives among us and moves us, I would like to invite you to stand and join hands with the people next to you. I will open our time of prayer, and then would like to invite you to share your prayers for this congregation as we prepare for this meeting. As normal, we will have more time in prayer during the prayers of the church in which we will pray for the world and the city and our loved ones. In this time of prayer, I would like us to invite the Spirits presence among us and pray for this church. After your petition, please say, Lord, in your mercyand we will respond, Hear our prayer. Let us pray.

La semana pasada recordamos la llegada del Espritu Santo a la primera comunidad cristiana, y celebramos la presencia continua del Espritu en esta congregacin. Esta maana leemos que tan importante es vivir sabiendo que el Espritu est entre nosotros. Esta maana, Pablo nos recuerda que si vivimos por el Espritu, viviremos. Tambin nos recuerda que el Espritu que hemos recibido nos libera del temor y nos afirma como Hijos e hijas de Dios. La presencia del Espritu entre nosotros ciertamente se manifest y se vio la semana pasada durante el culto y la comida compartida. As que estemos confiados que el Espritu est presente hoy entre nosotros. Hace algunas semanas la presidente de nuestra iglesia nos invit a prepararnos en oracin para nuestra reunin congregacional. Confo en que han hecho esto y como ya deben saber, tendremos una reunin congregacional despus del culto para considerar si somos una congregacin sostenible. Tal como ustedes se han preparado en oracin para esta reunin, me gustara que orramos juntos por unos minutos, en preparacin para nuestra reunin. As, en la confianza de que el Espritu vive y se mueve entre nosotros, me gustara invitarlos a ponerse de pie y tomarse de las manos con la persona a su lado. Abrir el tiempo de oracin, y entonces me gustara invitarles a compartir sus oraciones por esta congregacin, conforme nos preparamos para la reunin. Como siempre, tendremos ms tiempo para orar durante la oracin de la iglesia, cuando oremos por el mundo, nuestra ciudad y nuestros seres queridos. En este momento de oracin. Me gustara que invitramos la presencia del Espritu entre nosotros y a orar por esta iglesia. Despus de cada peticin, por favor, aada Seor, en tu misericordia, y entonces responderemos Escucha nuestra oracin. Oremos.
