Top Loading Procedures Before Loading: Only trucks and trailers that are properly equipped for top

loading may be used. 1. Perform SPSA. Wear proper PPE. 2. Do not allow open flames, cigarettes, or sparks in the vicinity of handling operations or storage areas. 3. Use only explosion proof flashlights. Do not switch flashlight on near a hazardous area. 4. Truck ignition, CBs, radio equipment, pagers, cell phones, lights and other electrical equipment must be off during loading. 5. Set truck/tractor and trailer brakes 6. 7. 8. 9. Remove all loose objects from upper pockets and secure all PPE as per terminal guidelines. 10. Attach bonding/ground cable. 11. Ensure manifold and unloading valves are closed. Remove previous load product identification tags. 12. Lower ramp to truck catwalk, raise safety rail(s) on trailer and/or use fall protection, whichever is applicable, insert meter ticket, reset meter to zero, if required. 13. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. 14. Open only dome cover of compartment to be loaded. Open cover carefully to ensure pressure has been relieved before fully opening. 15. Take a look to see if compartments are clean, free of foreign objects and completely drained. 16. Refer to dispatch instructions to: 17. Determine if a flush is required. 18. Ensure compartment will hold quantity to be loaded. 19. Ensure correct product is loaded into proper compartment.

Top Loading Procedures 20. Lower loading arm fully into compartment - ensure downspout always touches bottom of compartment. Maintain metal contact between spout and side of dome and ensure downspout is in a vertical position. 21. Select product in prescribed manner and select additives as required, as per site requirements. 22. Turn pump switch on and open loading arm valve. 23. Hold valve open by hand. Load at slow flow until nozzle of spout is covered by liquid, then open to full flow. NEVER TIE OR BLOCK A LOADING VALVE OPEN. 24. Do not breathe vapors, stand up-wind if possible, and avoid any physical contact with product. 25. Any substantial variation between volume loaded to gauge and metered volume should be reported immediately to terminal personnel. 26. Wait 2 minutes for any static charges to dissipate 27. After two minutes waiting time, remove loading arm slowly while maintaining metal to metal contact between downspout and edge of dome, and allow to drain before returning to proper position. 28. Repeat necessary steps for loading next compartments. 29. Close dome cover securely and raise ramp when leaving truck catwalk, or lower safety rails on the trailer, whichever is applicable. 30. If required, print meter ticket and remove. Repeat necessary steps for loading next compartments. 31. Remove ID card from card reader, if applicable. 32. DetaReplace placards if applicable. 33. Replace product tags at each compartment outlet valve. 34. Apply seals if required to top hatches and unloading valves. 35. ch ground cable. 36. Prior to re-entering vehicle, do a complete safety walk-around inspecting for leaks, ensuring all equipment is safely stored, doors and valves are closed, leaving area as found. 37. Proceed to office to pick up bill of lading. 38. Check product/volume against dispatch information. 39. Sign bill of lading.
