Japanese curators Shingo Yamano and Mayumi Hirano of Koganecho Bazaar visited some studios, galleries and art spaces in Manila in January 2012.

Realizing the lack of alternative spaces which can host these kinds of oppurtunities, Mark Salvatus opened his studio as multidisciplinary laboratory with Mayumi Hirano as co-director. 98B was born.

With the aim of gathering a community of artists, curators, cultural workers, and other practitioners; and providing a platform for discussions, 98B launched its public program for the year beginning with the talk of Seungki Cho and Lisa Chikiamco on 30 January 2012.

98B Design & CommunitY: The project tries to infuse design into everyday context and its utilitarian purpose for the community around 98B. It is a laboratory and a platform to exchange ideas between artists, designers, architects and the local community.

Future market: Its a bazaar, garage sale, thrift shop, black market, a meeting place. Independent artists, craft makers and hoarders will be selling their stuff from artworks, limited edition clothes, toys, books, zines, accessories, CDs, stickers, cookies and unwanted things.

Collection of art books,journals, references, magazines, exhibition catalogs, brochures, posters, invitations, audio recordings and videos at 98B. The library is open to all. But we also need your support. You can help by donating or loaning your art related books and journals to our small library, and also materials for building bookshelves.

98B hosted meetings/dinners since 2010 like the pares (beef stew) dinner of artist Noel Soler Cuizon, Mexican party of Karen Flores and Korean barbecue banquet of architect Dong Won Sung.
