Vocal Integrity is led by mother and son team Maureen and John Theaker. Maureen (ALAM, ANEA, NLP) brings a lifetimes experience of voice training. Having trained through the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and the New Era Academy, Maureen has created and run a successful speech and drama school of her own and has gone on to coach people of all ages from every type of background in this work. Her clients have included individuals, institutions and businesses from across the UK. Her approach combines a deeply intuitive and compassionate understanding of people with a lifetime of professional study in this field. Since graduating from university in the 80s, John has held several key posts ranging from secondary school teacher to consultant in the City of London, embracing along the way the roles of economic reformist, conference organiser and national charity leader, and culminating in owning and managing his own successful business, employing around 200 people. John has recently sold the company and joined forces with Maureen, as he wishes to concentrate on helping others to adopt the skills which have enabled him to succeed. We Dont Need No Education

Remember the prophetic words of Roger Waters and Pink Floyd in the Wall We Dont Need No Education. Now its come out that the only thing our children are being trained for is to pass exams. Examiners are actually telling teachers what to teach! Everyone is so shocked but in a world where the main motivation is profit what is the surprise? Listening to Michael Portillo on the Moral Maze on Radio 4 recently you could hear the profound defense of capitalist profit as the best way to advance society. It is an axiom that it is heretical to question. You can soften it at the edges but dont dare doubt it is the only option we have. However I cant see the need for profit appearing as a basic human need. How can such a major political and economic policy process not be based on humans emotional and psychological needs? Our children are being pushed through the exam machines, forced to borrow tens on thousands of pounds to go to university and start their life hypnotized by 100s of thousands of hours of media advertising promoting consumption. It really is as James Naughtie said recently on Radio 4 a sausage machine for our children. When we add to this the party that is going on amongst the rich at the expense of the poor it starts to leave you cold. As my generation reach maturity sadly the same old story is going on. Last night on BBC it was clear again that the Federal Reserve had a major part to play in the financial crisis, leaving one feeling suspicious about the immense power of that institution and what on earth is going on behind the scenes to create these global financial catasrophes. The only job left in town that any intelligent person can do that will create new value is to use all their intelligence in what ever way that can in what ever arena that they can to overturn the materialists greedy society we have created and are still creating unfortunately with all the force of a runnaway speeding locomotive. We have to keep positive that change is possible no matter what and be clear what we are up against.
