Section A Abstract The abstract is a brief summary of a research project, which comes before your in-depth analysis of your project topic. It is often used to help the reader quickly determine the purpose and scope of your project. Part 1. Choice and Rationale of Existing Idea / Current Situation The advent of industrialization is evident in every parts of the world. Unfortunately, the boon of advancement comes hand in hand with the bane of environmental degradation. The consumerist lifestyle in Singapore nowadays serves as a contributing factor when customers blindly enjoy available goods and services but remain unaware of the detrimental environmental effect of relentless disposal of waste materials, be it plastic bottles, packaging materials or food, etc..Each day, thousands of tons of waste materials are generated in malls and shopping centers all across Singapore due to soaring number of high-income group with great purchasing power. Recent years saw numerous of measures undertaken to address this issue of over-discarding of waste materials but all are bogged down for theres still no found foolproof measure to instill awareness in the general public. Overconsumption of goods and inadvertently waste by-products still exists because our community still remains indifferent about the chronic problems caused by everincreasing disposal of these materials. Even though recycling serves as a satisfactory answer for this conundrum, we can never escape

the fact that our recycling plants can never be efficient enough to greenalise the inexorably increasing pile of garbage that we dump every day. Therefore, there lies an utmost need to tackle the lack of environmental consciousness in our community. Part 2. Choice and Rationale for Subsequent Proposal Our model of a green shopping center aims to increase the level of awareness in the general public, thus promoting a greener living conditions in our community. This shopping center features an operating recycling plant in its core with the purpose of introducing to the public the complicated processes of collecting, sorting and transforming their daily waste materials into environmentally friendly products.
