Caladean Half-Ogre

Race
[For use with Dungeons and Dragons
Edition 3.5]

[by Christopher W. Blaine]

Brief History
§ The Half-Ogre race is not new; for centuries there have been individual
cases where, through various means, an ogre mated with a human.
Normally, the product of these unions are little more than small ogres.

§ Two hundred years ago, a great war devastated the lands of Caladeus
and Anderon, leaving groups of humans and ogres isolated from others.
At first, there was conflict between the groups, but the more
compassionate and intelligent of both parties came together and decided
they should combine efforts to survive.

§ Within a generation, old hostilities were swept aside in favor of mutual

respect and admiration. Humans learned the ogres were far from
mindless, but existed within a very complex society of where might made
right. The ogres learned that humans were not only tasty, but very good
at bending the natural world to their will.

§ Inevitably, there were pairings between the most charismatic of the ogres
and the ugliest of humans. Because the ogre’s diets had changed over
the years (from raw meat to cooked, as well as helpings of vegetables
and fruits), the resulting children from these unions were far different
from others around the realms.

§ Today, especially in the former lands of Caladeus and Anderon, the Half-
Ogres are considered as common as the Half-Orc. In many respects,
because it was orcs that had caused many of them problems associated
with the lands, they are more accepted.
