Advantage: Ease of Navigation

A GPS device is extremely handy. When you are hiking, you can deviate from a path without worrying about how you will find your way back. When you are driving, GPS-based navigation systems can provide you with turn-by-turn directions, a helpful feature in a strange town.

Advantage: Search Nearby Area

Some GPS systems allow you to search the local area for nearby amenities, such as hotels, restaurants and gas stations. This is extremely helpful in some situations. For example, if you are driving cross-country and realize there is a problem with your car, you can search for nearby auto mechanics and select one that is along your route. Your GPS system will show you exactly how to get there.

Advantage: Water Navigation

GPS devices are perfect for water navigation. Since there are no landmarks in large bodies of water, boaters in the past had to use a compass and a map to determine if they were on the right heading, with somewhat imprecise results. But the advent of GPS systems allowed boaters to figure out their exact position on the map. In situations where underwater hazards are a problem, GPS devices allow boaters to steer around hidden dangers.

Disadvantage: Possible Failures

You need to carry a backup map and directions in case your GPS fails for some reason. For example, if you are driving down a city street, the buildings may block the satellite signal, preventing you from receiving position updates. If you are hiking in the wilderness, your handheld GPS receiver's battery may die, leaving you with no way to navigate. For hiking situations, it's a good idea to bring along a compass as well.

Disadvantage: Inaccuracy

GPS signals are not completely accurate. Obstacles like buildings and trees can deflect the signal, causing your position on the GPS screen to be off by as much as 100 feet. Atmospheric conditions (such as geomagnetic storms caused by solar activity) may also affect GPS accuracy. For highway driving, this can cause you to miss a turn or exit.

Global Positioning System Advantages

Global Positioning System has many advantages when it comes to locating things like cars and mobiles. It is an answer to the security concerns most of us have. Locating a far-off vehicle or a stolen car and even a mobile phone has been made easy by global positioning system. Automatic vehicle tracking system is the advent of this technology and solves the given purpose. Vehicle tracking device collects data in the process from the field and deliver it to the base of operation. The many advantages of this system include: It is basically a satellite based navigation system that proves to be useful for military, civil and commercial users. Vehicle tracking systems helps in minimizing the end-costs by specifically targeting those who do not understand the dangers of high speed and importance of fuel. By finding out such drivers, we help in reducing the fuel consumption these. The low speed also ensures fewer accidents. It requires investing a lot of time and money in maintaining vehicles. The system of automatic mileage reminder makes it possible to serve the required purpose. It proves to be useful in keeping the records of the productivity of workers by keeping track of their lunch hours, exposing the prolonged breaks and leisure time. It also helps in calculating the overtime done by the workers. By having a detailed account of the whereabouts of vehicles at all times, it is far easier to keep check on employee activities. Business owners can determine that who are the most productive employees. This in turn will help them in implementing the required training or even a system of bonuses to boost the performances of the employees. The importance of storage database and software lies in the fact that database stores all the relevant and correspinding information and software writes all the necessary programs neccesary to implement the technology. Database and software are the two most intrinsic constituents. The location information and the coordinates of every point visited are stored in a database. One of the very noted benefits of the Global Positioning system is that the vehicles are more frequently serviced. This increases the resale value of the vehicle. It proves to be assistance in avoiding penalties for issues such as gone tyres and tax as reminders are crisp and more understandable. By keeping a record of the whereabouts of all employees, business owners can coordinate their operations in a more organised way. They have more authorization and control over the way work is done under them. A common glitch while driving a car that we face us when it begins to show signs of a mechanical issue, and even breaks down leaving us stranded somewhere in the middle of nothing. At such times, there are not many options that are available to us. We can take respite from the fact that we only have to push a button and we are guaranteed help. Most vehicles have this communicator button and a map, which tells us about the nearby places to it. An Advantages/Disadvantages discussion really only makes sense when you compare/contrast one thing to something else. Its not really clear what you want to compare/contrast to GPS. So let's make this a discussion of what the strengths and weaknesses of GPS are. Strengths: - GPS works in all weather - relatively low costs (compared to other navigation systems) - 100% coverage on the planet - accuracy can vary from millimeters to several meters depending on the technique that is used - because of its low cost, its relatively easy to integrate into other technologies (hence, the boom in the use of GPS in cell phones) - the system is maintained regularly by the US government (as compared to other navigations systems by other countries e.g. GLONASS) Weaknesses: - GPS satellite signals are weak (when compared to, say, cellular phone signals), so it doesn't work as well indoors, underwater, under trees, etc. - the highest accuracy requires line-of-sight from the receiver to the satellite, this is why GPS doesn't work very well in an urban environment - the US DoD (dept of defense) can, at any given time, deny users use of the system (i.e. they degrade/shut down the satellites)

Global positioning technology has been used for decades in military, marine and aerial contexts. It has only recently come to prominence in civilian vehicular tracking. Those unfamiliar with GPS technology might wonder what advantages it brings over more traditional map-based systems. Whether traveling for business or pleasure, GPS technology can add entirely new dimensions to your trip.

Maps
Taken alone, GPS technology is rather unimpressive. GPS receivers provide only coordinates, headings and a few other statistics which, when viewed independently, are not helpful. It is when combined with maps that GPS technology adds value. A GPS can locate your position in seconds, and you'll also have access to nearby points of interest--restaurants, airports, amusement parks and any number of businesses and attractions that you may not have known existed. Most GPS units ship with maps of entire countries available. These maps are fairly easily updated, usually on an annual subscription plan. Some maps include supplemental information, such as guidebooks and tourist information.

Enhanced Directions
Most GPS units include routing functionality which, once your position has been found, can calculate a route to a point regardless of whether it is across town or across the country. You'll never need to ask for directions again, as most units can provide spoken, turn-by-turn directions to guide you to your destination. Computer-created routes are often imperfect. In these instances, GPS technology can recalculate the route from your current position to your destination, thus helping you navigate around any unforeseen difficulties. Some units even offer visual depictions of road features and landmarks to add further details to the directions.

No Traffic for Dinner

GPS also helps to save time by providing traffic feeds. Many units can warn of congestion and suggest an alternate route. Most GPS maps sort points of interest into specific categories, making it easy to find different restaurants based on geography or food type. If the location includes a phone number some cell phone technology can route the call to your car speakers.

Features and Functions of GPS Vehicle Tracking System

While handing over the vehicle to the children, there is always a rule book attached. But there are always chances of violation of the instructions given to children. Way out lies in the GPS vehicle tracking system. By this device one can easily monitor whether the rules are being followed by the child or not. The devices with various facilities help to keep a watch and control on them. You just need to attach a small tracking device with your vehicle and the service providers do the rest with tracking software that provides timely details of the vehicle. Some of the basic features are given below.

Function: Device identifies the location of the vehicle on a real time basis. Just through internet you can easily track your exact position of the vehicle. Whether passive or active the tracking devices store all location and speed details that you can collect through your PC by using internet and a special software made for this purpose. Even one can set the speed limitation in the device attached. If somebody drives the car beyond the specified speed limit, it will alert you immediately. Device helps not only to keep limit on its speed but also on its area. Similarly you can create safety zones so that the moment your vehicle goes out of the designated area, the device alerts you through SMS, email or by using any other wireless media. Best feature of the system is its easiness with which it can be used. From anywhere one can get the information about that particular vehicle by logging in the information required. Details about the car are displayed within seconds. Some devices work even in a smarter way by making a chart of the entire activities of the vehicle over a period of time that you can analyse later on. Hence, these tracking devices have really revolutionised the communication medium by providing various cool features at your fingertips.

Cost

Purchasing a GPS based on price can be a major disadvantage. If you purchase a "bargain GPS," you will get what you pay for, and features such as traffic and up-to-date maps could be lacking.

Reception

GPS devices are limited by having clear access to the satellites that provide the tracking. In locations with tall buildings or sparse coverage, reception can be poor.

Directions

Turn-by-turn directions are not available on every type of GPS device. Some will give very little advanced notice before an upcoming turn.

Accuracy

Maps on GPS devices are not updated in real time for all models. This means that it is possible a GPS device will direct you onto a road that is closed or no longer exists. It could also miss new roads and businesses.

Battery Life

GPS units that are not plugged into a power source, and rely on batteries, which can drain quickly. This can increase the cost of owning a GPS unit significantly.

Using a Global Position System receiver is like having know-it-all Uncle Marv's local knowledge in the palm of your hand---only without the annoying backseat driving. A GPS can answer where and how far, lead you around traffic and some 2009 models can even plot the most economical route. But just as the merits of using a GPS system are legion, so are the disadvantages.

Receiver & Basemap Accuracy

While GPS receivers have become much more accurate over the last couple of years, they still need lineof-sight to lock onto satellites---this means reduced accuracy anywhere the sky is blocked by obstructions like skyscrapers or canyon walls. Also, basemaps need to be periodically updated or they can diverge significantly from reality, especially in rapidly changing areas.

Local Knowledge
Sole reliance on a GPS receiver's directions is another possible disadvantage of GPS systems. Relying on a GPS to plot your route instead of deciding where to go through gathering information from local sources---like the web, or locals---can lead to significant errors in judgment as the driver blindly follows the GPS. For instance, a GPS route won't reveal if a stretch of road has great views, is closed for the day or is potentially hazardous to drive through at certain hours---but stopping and asking directions at a gas station might.

Potential Hazards
Another disadvantage of using a GPS system while driving is obvious to anyone who has sat in the passenger seat while the driver fiddles with the unit's screen. There's always a temptation to key in data while driving, and dividing attention between the road and the GPS is a recipe for disaster; in fact, most GPS receivers display a screen on startup that warns against key operation while driving (though some new units in 2009 come equipped with voice command recognition software, which practically nullifies this problem).

http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Advantages-And-Disadvantages-Of-The-Three-Major-Types-Of-GPSVehicle-Tracking&id=163251

There are three major types of GPS vehicle tracking; cellular based tracking, wireless passive tracking and satellite based real-time GPS tracking. This article will outline the advantages and disadvantages associated with all three types of GPS Vehicle Tracking. Cellular Based Tracking The initial costs for setting up the system are slightly lower than the other two options. With cellular based tracking average costs are about $500. A cellular based tracking system transmits information about where a vehicle is every five minutes over a land network. The average monthly costs are about thirty-five dollars for airtime and for the information to be displayed over the internet. Wireless Passive Tracking A major advantage to this type of tracking system is that there is no monthly fee, so once the system is set up there will be no other costs associated with it. However, setting up the system is a little expensive. The average is about $700 for the hardware, and $800 for the software and database. With this type of system most people say the disadvantage is that the information about where the vehicle has been can only be found out when the vehicle returns back to the companies base. This is a major drawback especially for companies that are looking for a tracking system that will tell them where their vehicle is if it has been stolen or in an accident. However many systems are now inserting wireless modems to their devices so that tracking information can be viewed without having the memory card from the vehicle. With wireless modem wireless passive tracking systems are also able to collect information about how fast the vehicle is traveling, stops made and other detailed information. With this new addition many companies feel this system is a perfect fit because there is still no monthly bill. Satellite Based Real-Time Tracking This type of system gives less detailed information, but it works nationwide, which makes it a good choice for shipping and trucking companies. The costs for setting up the system average around $700. The monthly fees for this system vary from five dollars up to one hundred dollars; based on how detailed a company wants the reports to be. New Technology In the next few years GPS tracking will be able to provide companies with a number of other advantages. Some companies have already set up a way to have a customers sign and run credit cards onsite through the unit. Others

are setting up ways for dispatchers to send re-routing information directly to a drivers GPS unit. Another new advancement for GPS systems is that they will have internet access and stored information about the vehicle so that a driver or mechanic can use the GPS unit to look up diagrams to help them fix the vehicle. In addition to this all of the information will be stored and saved in the companies database. Chris Simons is a prolific freelance writer. Advantages 1. Easy Navigation System

Now you dont need worry about deviating from your path while you are hiking or if you are lost in a strange town and dont know the way out just relax because you have the GPS. The navigation system in a GPS device can provide you with turn-by-turn directions even if you are in a car as there are GPS devices available for cars as well and it could be a very useful feature in a strange town or place.

2. Nearby Area Search

There are some GPS systems that can allow you to search the area around you for nearby services like restaurants, hotels and gas stations. This feature is extermily useful in situations like if you are driving cross-country and suddenly realize that your car is braking down, you can always search for the m=nearby auto mechanics and select the one that is along your way. Your GPS system will show you exactly how to get there.

3. Navigation over Water

GPS devices can work perfectly for water navigation. In the past, boaters had to use a compass and a map in order to determine where exactly they are heading and with somewhat vague results as there were no landmarks in the large bodies of water. However, the arrival of GPS systems allowed them to find out their exact location on the map. Underwater hazards are always a problem; here GPS devices can allow boaters to steer around hidden dangers under water.

Disadvantage 1. Potential Failures

You should always carry a backup directions and maps in case your GPS fails due to some reason.

Maybank2u 1. Pergi ke ATM 2. Pilih 'online banking' 3. Pilih Online banking PIN 4. Masukkan nombor selain no pin yang selalu anda gunakan. cth: 999999 5. Buka maybank2u.com.my dan pilih "First time login"

6. Masukkan no kad ATM anda (16 digit di hadapan kad) di ruangan "Access No" 7. Masukkan pin yang anda masukkan tadi (cth: 999999)

Apakah kelebihan online banking?

http://advancedcomputertips.com/gps-tracking-3-effective-uses-to-consider

Some of the available GPS tracking software packages today enable the user to interact with the tracked unit in a number of ways. Thus, the communication goes both ways so that from a base station, the user can check the status of its target object and send new instructions to it like remote commands if necessary. One of the most well-known and widely used applications in the field of global positioning is the GPS tracking. In the first place, aGPS tracking system uses GPS to identify the location of a person, vehicle and pet. It also records the position at regular intervals in order to create a track file or log of activities. The recorded information can then be stored within the GPS tracking unit, or it may be transmitted to a central location or internet connection computer. This transfer can be done through the use of a cellular modem, two-way radio, or satellite. A GPS tracking system actually has a number of uses. In this article I will discuss mainly three of the well-known uses of this GPS application. 1. As mentioned earlier, a GPS tracking system is used to track pets. Well, this idea is relatively new, so there are not a lot of choices and the technology can be pricey. But, I have a few samples of GPS tracking devices used to track pets: GPS Pet Tracker X5000 by Micro Tech This device is now marketed to the owners of dogs and cats, not only in the US but in many other parts of the world. According to its proponents, this unit sends its location information over the GSM cellular network and will send SMS messages to three phone numbers at intervals of two to 120 minutes. Also, the user can call the tracker to obtain the information. Pointer Dog-GPS by Pointer Positioning Solutions This device is made primarily for hunting. It consists of two devices, the sender and the hunters map. The Sender is placed on the dogs harness, while the hunters map is for the dog owner. The hunters map has a GPS so the hunter can see his or her position on the map screen, as well

as the position of the dog. The hunter can even listen to whats going on at the dogs location. 2. Today, a number of GPS tracking systems intended for most mammals and larger birds are highly available. Perhaps the reason for this development is that wildlife researchers need to determine the travel patterns of the wild animals as this is very critical to study and preservation. Well, some of the available system intended for this purpose have two-way communication which permits the user to gather information on demand or re-program the device while it is still on the animal. 3. Most GPS tracking systems function by creating a geofence around a companys assets like construction equipment. The systems can be activated over the telephone or by computer. When the asset travels outside the perimeter, an alarm is then immediately sent to a dispatch center. The police are then notified and able to track down the missing equipment, often within an hour. In todays advanced technological world, GPS tracking is fast becoming a staple in society. It is but another high potential growth area for GPS applications. Perhaps this is because there are so many uses for these devices. In fact, with ever smaller dimensions and weights coupled with the availability of solar cell power, these GPS tracking systems can be used in growing number of cases.

Apa Itu GPS ?

Posted by LiFe KaMi Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Salam Semua..

US Coast Guard mengendalikan perkhidmatan DGPS pembetulan yang paling umum.
