22 May 2012 5 Interesting Facts about the 1 day of Global UNiTE Youth Forum in Bangkok Hello guys! Here Im writing again to give you daily updates from the perspective of young people. Interesting! st The review 1 day of the forum. Rather telling you the whole stories noted on my notebook, I chose to give you a different kind of delivering reports. A few facts that I told below might open up your mind about what the Global Unite Youth Forum to ending and preventing Violence against Women and Girls is: Here we go! # Fact Number 1: Aldijana Sisic The campaign manager for United Nations Secretary Generals Campaign UNiTE to end Violence against Women AND our Asia-Pacific Campaign Manager of UNiTE Anna-Karin Jatfors (likes to be called with A.K) are two different kinds of women; A.K is well-described as a cheery one, with her smiles that always influence others to do so. Whereas, Aldijana is a cooler one, she has a unique charisma that couldnt be found in others. Shes such an intellectual activist in her field, and A.K is a great role-model in making ourselves comfortable with our own style (way of speaking, clothes, gadgets, etc) and stays proud to be whatever we are. Theyre quite different people, and make their own characters as their power in their activism. Its never a problem be different to our partner in crime. We can still help each other as proper as possible, to make our dream come true. #Fact Number 2: Who says if you want to become an inspiring person then you have to suddenly reading a number of philosophy books in order to exercise your ability in creating the sophisticated sentences of statement? Its not our abilities that show what we truly are. Its choices. Dumbledoore, 2002. See? Its not a problem if you want to motivate the audience in front of you by a quote from Harry Potter movie. Aldijana has made the most of it, yesterday. Awesome!

18 May 2012: We're gladly starting a countdown to the First Global UNiTE Youth Forum 22-24 May 2012, which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand. As many of you already know, on 25 February 2008, the United Nations Secretary-General launched the campaign UNITE to End Violence against Women, 2008-2015, with the overall objective of raising public awareness and increasing political will and resources for preventing and responding to violence against women and girls. The Secretary-General's campaign calls for a strengthening of the work of the UN system and seeks to increase global advocacy and resources for the work on the issue and build partnerships and capacities that

address the persistence of gender inequality and violence against women and girls. As the powerful generation, young people from all over the world are warmly invited to join the crowd in ending and preventing any form of violence against women and girls. In order to globally engage with each other, from 22 to 24 May 2012, over 40 selected youth activists will meet in Bangkok for the first Global UNiTE Youth Forum. These youth are aged 18-30 and represent various organizations across the globe. There is no doubt that they are actively working on preventing and eliminating violence against women and girls. This is why they were all wholeheartedly recommended by people who are also working on the same issue through advocacy and prevention. The Forum is being organized by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moons global campaign UNiTE to End Violence against Women, to harness the leadership and engagement of young people in addressing violence against women and girls. It will be the first time ever that young activists from around the world will be brought together on such a scale under the UNiTE campaign to discuss common strategies and challenges and to learn from and inspire each other. The 40+ youth activists will come together in the next few days and work to strengthen their vision, discuss their mission, setup strategic plans and write an agenda of actions. But, the things mentioned above are going to be unworkable without your kindness support and your passionate participation within. So guys, this is actually a kind of attention to acknowledge your efforts to prevent violence against women and girls. We more-than-one-hundred-percent believe even if you arent that type of a youth-with-headbandactivist or the one who is great in diplomacy or highly-qualified in negotiation no matter how you identify yourself; you can be a talented role-model for change. YOUth can be leaders of unlimited initiatives to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls. You can simply get started raising your voices by using the hash tag #UNiTEyouth on your mention-post to @SayNO_UniTE twitter. Also, we are looking forward to interact with you through our official facebook page http://www.facebook.com/SayNO.UNiTE, and of course, please stay tuned for news and updates from the Forum at http://saynotoviolence.org/ Hugs, Ninies Global UNiTE Youth Reporter (http://flavors.me/niniesrina)
