Dear all I think it is time for us to wrap up our strategy. If we keep discussing we might go on forever.

Even though this is our final draft for our strategy this does not mean that tweaks cannot be done once the strategy is being implemented. So we will start with our Vision: For nurses to reach excellence in providing specialised care to make people feel better, improve their quality of life and to reach the goal of becoming a leading health care profession. Followed by our Mission Statement: To promote the nursing profession as a valuable and leading profession in modern and future health care. Nurses will strive to increase competence and knowledge, enhancing and improving nursing care to all. We will endeavour to lead nurses through carer progression to provide a trustworthy specialized nursing care for the benefit of the whole society. Now these are the steps we took in developing our strategy: Step 1 Meeting with all stake holders involved in reaching our vision Step 2 Analysing feedback of stake holders to form strategy Specialties Identified Community Care Nurse Specialists In Tissue Viability Stoma Care Breast Care

Urology Palliative care Geriatrics Others could follow if need arises. Needs assessment will need to be carried out to identify most needed and feasible nurse specialties so we can short list and begin with those needed most. Qualification Level Post graduate MSc Milestone 1 Identify courses available to reach specialization Milestone 2 Establishing means to fund courses and projects (E.U. / Sponsors / HD) Milestone 3 Create job description for specialist nurses based on needs and resources of local health care. Milestone 4 Identify interested nurses (Expression on intent / Call for applications) Milestone 5 Promote the mission and vision Milestone 6

Develop a setup and network in the community setting that will compliment and accommodate the specialist nurses one back from their training

Milestone 7 Start implementing specialized nurse led clinic

Evaluation and start training more specialized nurse making changes according to feedback from all stake holders.

I think we should base our strategy over a 10 year period. In the first year all preparatory meetings are held. These meeting should lead us up to step 2 and to a short list of first specialities to be employed in the strategy. Second and third year the strategy is planning to meet up to milestone 4. Now the team is in a position to open an application for nurses having courses set, funding and job descriptions. Over the next 3 years while nurses are specializing in universities the team will be setting up the logistics and network for the specialized clinics in the community. Promotion of these nurse led clinics and the vision and mission of the team will be carried out to enhance acceptance of the new practices. Seventh year evaluation and implementation of the next set of specialities. After three years training we should have the second set of specialized nurses. If targets are not met strategy can be extended for another three years. Hopefully our team will have accomplished our mission by reaching the vision. What do you think team? Spencer
