Semester: V Course & Branch: B.E (Electronics and Communication ) ANALOG COMMUNICATION Max. Marks: 100 Subject : EC 501 Duration: 3 Hrs Subject Code : Instructions to Candidates: 1. Answer one Full question from each unit. UNIT-I 1. a) Generate an amplitude modulated signal using square law modulator. (10) b) The message signal m(t) whose spectrum is as shown in Fig. 1(b)(ii) is (10) passed through the system shown in Fig.1(b)(i). The BPF has a bandwidth of 2W centered at fo and a LPF has a bandwidth of W. Determine the output of the system. Plot the spectrum at each level.

Show that if the demodulator output is to follow the envelope of v(t), it is required that at any time to is given by 1 m sin wmt0 RC m 1+msinwmto Note: AM wave is s(t)=(l+mcoswmt) coswc.t

ii) Show that if the demodulator is to follow the envelope at all times , then m< mo determined from the below equation. 1 1-mo RC = w, m0 Sketch the wave forms for both the cases ( i) and (ii). UNIT-II 3. a) Explain the properties of Hilbert Transform. (10) b) Design a system to generate SSB signal, assuming that the input signal (10) m(t) consists of voice signal occupying the frequency band 0.3 to 3.4kHz
