What are the tools that suitable to be use in measuring length? Give a few questions to students that they have to convert such as: 300cm = ___m 8. 2.5cm = ___cm
1. Confident 2. Alert
1. Pupils revise multiplication facts of 1digit number by 1-digit number, and 1-digit number by 10,100 and 1000. 2. Teacher prepares 6 pieces paper strips of the same length. 3. Then, teacher pastes the paper strips on the board and asks pupils to measure the length of a piece of a paper strip. 4. Teacher asks pupils: What is the length of a piece of paper strip? How many paper strips of 35cm are there?
1. Explainin g Teaching aids : 1. Ruler 2. Paper strips 3. Plain paper Values : 1. Careful
What is the total length of the paper strips? 5. Teacher guide pupils to multiply 35 cm by 6. 3 5 cm X 6 cm 2 1 0 cm 6. Teacher guide pupils to multiply units of length by 10.Convert the answers to the required units using partitioning. e.g : 10 x 64 mm=_____ cm 6 4 mm X 1 0 mm 6 4 0 mm 7. Teacher convert 640mm to cm using partitioning and mental sum, 10 mm = 1 cm 640 mm = 600 mm + 40 mm = 60 cm + 4 cm = 64 cm 8. Proceed with multiplication of units of length by 100 and 1000.e.g : 100 x 5.9cm =_______ m 1000 x 4.6 cm =______ m
1. Pupils doing selfassessment based on the topic learnt. 2. Pupils have 5 minutes to finish the questions. 3. Pupils discuss the answers with the teacher. 4. Whoever wants to answer the questions should rise up their hands. 5. Teacher rectifies pupils mistakes.
