SECTOR SPECIFIC ENERGY MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMES

Energy management programmes are being developed for specific sectors in consultation with relevant stakeholders. Sectors
Hotels Tea Water pumping/distribution Hospitals / healthcare Government Sector Buildings Universities and Higher Education Institutes Schools mainly awareness and education Transport :
Programme on Energy Efficient & Environmentally Sustainable Transport (E3ST) Systems is launched. Fuel economy standards for ground vehicles are under development.

SECTOR SPECIFIC ENERGY MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMES

SLSEA has developed a National Energy Management Plan (EnMAP) for the 5-year period from 2012 to 2016.
It shall serve as a guide to embark on an integrated and cohesive programme of work with a long term perspective to realize better energy efficiency energy sectors

Barriers in implementing energy efficiency improvement programmes

Lack of financing, Lack of end user awareness and commitments, Lack of technical capacity among end users and Absence of adequate regulatory mechanism.
