Research Experience

Masters Thesis: Peer-to-Peer System Design for Enterprise Resource Planning May, 2011 till present Supervisor: Prof. Yatindra Nath Singh, Department of Electrical Engineering Designing and developing the software architecture of a Peer-to-Peer system for the existing central server based academic facility - Brihaspati-4, using JXSE platform. A paradigm for intranet in the secret projects in business/military. Designed an algorithm to realize a distributed le system of the form of Unix le system. LIAMA, Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sino-French IT Lab of INRIA, Beijing, Research Internship May, 2010 - July, 2010 Mentor: Prof. Stephane Grumbach, INRIA senior research scientist Designed and programmed a simulator of a scalable distributed network with engine which generates and processes queries in a query language NETLOGPull (a query language developed by my mentors). Contrived and implemented protocols for smooth processing of the simulation and troubleshooting in JAVA. Proposed inclusion of some symbols in the language and made the compiler more comprehensive which made the language more functional. Successfully simulated ve routing and sensor network protocols for very large (100 nodes) and complex web of nodes. Technical University Munich, Germany: Chair of Robotics and Computer Vision, Research Internship May, 2009 - July, 2009 Mentor: Dr. Giorgio Panin, Research Assistant at DLR (former Assistant Professor at TUM) Adapted the single input based application to a multiple input based environment. Optimized the code by using the right technique to improve the foreground segmentation in the eld of view. Achieved people tracking from multiple cameras using multithreading. Mathematical Model of the snakes lateral undulation locomotion, Course Project Jan, 2011 - Apr, 2011 Prof. Prawal Sinha, Department of Mathematics 1

Studied the lateral undulation motion of snake - various forces involved and kinematics of the body of the snake - from observations made by snake scientists. Performed system identication of the system consisting of snake and ground, specied the parameters and variables involved. Constructed the plausible equations relating the gait, mass, lateral force, coecients of friction, velocity, part of the snakes body in touch with the ground on the basis of classical mechanics. Clock Synchronization in Distributed Systems, Course Project Aug, 2011 - Nov, 2011

Prof. Ratan K Ghosh, Department of Computer Science and Engineering Studied the Byzantine Clock Synchronization problem and various algorithms to solve it. Designed a scalable, platform independent, event driven network and tested the synchronization algorithms in JAVA as a testbench. Simulated the Interactive Convergence Algorithm and Halper, Simons, Strong algorithms to synchronize the faulty clocks in the designed testbench. Security against Free-Riders in Peer to Peer System, Term Paper Jan, 2011 - Apr, 2011 Prof. Dheeraj Sanghi, Department of Computer Science and Engineering Analyzed the possible threats to peers against free riders in peer to peer systems. Reviewed the role and realization of trust and reputation taking inspiration from everyday scenarios of social communities. Studied protocols which mathematically quantify the above mentioned abstractions. SDLX processor and Transactional Memory, Jan, 2011 - Apr, 2011

Implemented two two-stage multi-core SDLX processors in Verilog and the cache controllers followed MESI protocol for coherence and tested them on an FGPA board. Implemented Hardware Transactional Memory in dual core SDLX processor to make parallel programming easier. Followed an eager approach to conict detection and lazy to conict resolution. Distributed Computing Aug, 2009 - Nov, 2009

Dr. Priya Ranjan Enabled the message passing between processors over a LAN using the OpenMPI library. Implemented the Search and Game of Life parallelly among 9 to 11 processors. Observed the variation in run-time with respect to the number of processors, size of the problem and speed of processors.

Hand - Mouse using Image Processing

Jan, 2009 - Apr, 2009

Prof. K. Subramanian Venkatesh Two cameras took the horizontal and vertical views of the plane sheet (which acted as touchpad without any touch sensors) Detected the pointing nger using HSV segmentatio in Matlab and supplied its coordinates to the operating system Click was recognized by identifying the dierence in number of frames between touch and no-touch conditions Jitter in the cursor was removed by making it follow small straight line paths between consecutive coordinates Manufacturing Processes Aug, 2008 - Nov, 2008 Train Engine prototype: A model of steam engine using steel and skills involving welding, casting and metal forming. Rotating giant wheel: A model of amusement ride in which a seat undergoes rotation and revolution about three axis simultaneously with suitable combination of gears.
