Theme: Freedom

Lee Greenwood sings for many of us when he croons Im Proud to be an American:

If tomorrow all the things were gone Id worked for all my life, And I had to start again With just my children and my wife, Id thank my lucky stars To be livin here today Cause the flag still stands for freedom And they cant take that away. And Im proud to be an American Where at least I know Im free And I wont forget the men who died Who gave that right to me And I gladly stand up Next to you and defend her still today Cause there aint no doubt I love this land God Bless the U.S.A.!!

I want to use America as an acrostic and have each letter stand for a quality I love about this: Home of the Free and the Land of the Brave. A- APPRECIATION for democracyconsider Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. M- MISSION Liberty and Justice for ALL. E- EDUCATION In America, we have a defined commitment to public educationan education for ALL its citizens. R- RELIGION In America, we guarantee a diversity of religiona religious pluralism, not just a Christian pluralism. I- INITIATIVE People need initiative to succeed. We dont want an America where we can sit back and have the government take care of us, unless it is absolutely necessary. C- CHARACTER America is blessed to have so many persons of characterour symbol is the Statue of Liberty Send me your poorSend me your hungry A- ATTITUDE America has always demonstrated a can do attitude. Attitude is probably the most important quality that you can have! This July 4th, lets sing with Lee Greenwood Im Proud To Be An American!

ello Chapel Church! For an update on SNCAL it has been going well. We start the night by hanging out usually playing ping pong, bag toss, ladder golf, and then we end up playing some sand volleyball games. After this we head inside, eat some food, and then have a devotion. The last devotion was about, How do you know if God is speaking to you? So I will break it down and tell you what we went over. There are so many ways that God speaks to us, and I had a list of seven ways that we talked about. These are just seven ways that I thought of; dont get me wrong these are not the only ways that God speaks to us! The list goes: 1.! Still small voice. (the voice that you talk to yourself with) 2.! Prophetically (visions, words from God, and imagination) 3.! Dreams 4.! Movies, Creation, and Life Situations 5.! The Bible, as well as other Books 6.! Pastors 7.! People So these are ways God can speak to us. Now how do we know if it is God speaking or not? For this question I have three dierent ways to check if it is God: 1. Does it line up with Scripture? If it goes against Gods word (the Bible), then it isnt God that you are hearing from. 2. If it doesnt leave you. 1 Samuel 3: 4-10 (4 Then the Lord

am; you called me. But Eli said, I did not call; go back and lie down. So he went and lay down. 6 Again the Lord called, Samuel! And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, Here I am; you called me. My son, Eli said, I did not call; go back and lie down. 7 Now Samuel did

So this was our devotion on June 9th for SNCAL. After the devotion we hung out, and some stayed a while longer and watched a movie. Next week we will be breaking down Gods story from creation to the New Covenant. -Jay

Samuel! Then Samuel said, Speak, for your servant is listening.) If something keeps being brought back to you, even after dismissing it multiple times, it very well could be God. 3. If it builds you up or convicts you. 1 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. Convicts would mean it reveals to you that something you have been doing is not what God wants you to do. Builds you up means makes you feel conrmed that you are loved and valuable to God.
