NEW CLASSES OF ROLLING BEARINGS WITH NEW WORKING PRINCIPLES

Abstract. Under the effect of a single radial load the rolling bearings (slewing rings) transmits the load in a region less than 180 degrees, if the radial clearance exists. The new solution ensures an 0 to 360 degrees load repartition and produce benefits in rolling bearings behavior. The present work discusses the new rolling bearing working principle and presents the main ten new classes of bearings. Keywords: rolling bearings, new class of ball bearing, new working principles

1. Introduction At present, a large range of rolling bearings and slewing rings exist which ensure the load transmission between two or more bearing rings, according to Hertz theory. But in all cases a single radial load is transferred between rings and rolling elements in a region described by an angle lower as 180 degrees. The new working principle assures a load distribution in a region of 0 to 360 degrees, which implies a lot of advantages regarding the bearing life growing, the miniaturizing process, increasing rotation speeds and also in the increasing external loads [1,3]. 2. The description of the construction The main elements of the ten new classes of bearings are presented in Fig. 1b. comparative with a classical solution Fig.1a. The bearing is composed of a

body 1 (see Fig.1b) with 3 regions 1a, 1b and 1c which assure the inner and outer boundary of the bearing, an intermediary ring 2 and rows of rolling elements disposed between the body 1 and body 2 frontiers. These regions 1a, 1b and 1c can be machined as a single piece or can be assembles to assure a single rigid body. The intermediary element 2 assure the load transmission in a area with an angle of 0 to 360 degrees when a radial load act.

The inner-outer ring and the intermediary ring can create 10 new classes of rolling bearings with the representation presented in fig.2. An equivalent spring -sistem is presented in fig.2 to simultae some of the mechanical interactions between rings and the rolling elements under the effect of a single radial load. That similarity shows the differences beteween the IRR, ORR and IOE analysis methods.

The analytical modeling is assured by the mass center displacement of the curvature centre of the raceways [2]. The analysis is made in 5 degrees of freedom. The illustrations form fig.2 are analytically transposed as in Fig.3.

Applying this new working principle more than 100 new construction types was identified. To illustrate the principle application some of these are presented in figures 4 to 7.

4. The advantages of the proposed solution The new rolling bearing types assure the following advantages: assure a miniaturising process increasing the bearing behaviour. Also it reduces the bearing mass. For example see figures 8 and 9;

offers the possibility to increase the bearing rotational speed by reducing the centrifugal force acting in the rolling element and bearing mass; If F is the diameter reduction factor the rotational speed can be increased according with the following value (D-d)*F0.5/(D.F-d) where : D is the pitch diameter and d the ball diameter. The dependece is presented in Figure 10.

5. Conclusion The new bearing type assure a load distribution in a region of 0 to 360 dregrees under the effect a single radial load and permits to increase tle load capacity or to increase the rotationa speed by diminishing the pitch diameter

Metoda de transmitere a sarcinii intre inelel rulmentului permite obtinerea de avantaje funcionale i de reducere a costurilor.
