CALL TO ARTISTS
For more information, contact Marty Urman (marty@jcwc.org) The 3rd Annual Johnson Creek Art Show will provide artists an opportunity to display and share their Johnson Creek Watershed inspired artwork from September-October 2012. The Show is part of the Councils larger, month-long Johnson Creek Days watershed awareness event which includes activities such as a childrens educational fair, a fun run, a family bike ride, and more. Theme: Artwork inspired by Johnson Creek and its watershed. Our goals are to educate the public through art about what a watershed is, to engage people in an appreciation of Johnson Creek, and to inspire artists and non-artists to look at the watershed from a different perspective. Artwork may be any medium or style, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, fiber, glass, drawing and mixed media. Dates: September 7-October 12 at Reed College Vollum Lounge (3203 SE Woodstock Blvd, Portland, Oregon). Artists are responsible for delivering their piece(s) to Reed College Vollum Lounge on Thursday, September 6 from 12-3pm. Artists are responsible for picking up their piece(s) on Friday October 12 from 4-6pm. Artwork not picked up may be removed by JCWC. Artists are encouraged to attend the First Friday Artists Reception on Friday, September 7 from 6-8pm. Space will be available for artists statements and contact information throughout the show. Sales: Inquiries will be directed to the artist. Reed College and Johnson Creek Watershed Council can not handle or be in any way involved with any sales of artwork. Johnson Creek Watershed Council will direct all sales inquires to artists. Though not required, artists are encouraged to donate 10% of any sales to JCWC. Plein Air Sessions: July 7 and August 4. Plein air sessions with guest artists will be held on Saturday mornings from 10-12am at Johnson Creek Park (July 7) and at Gresham Main City Park (August 4). Artists are encouraged to submit pieces created during these sessions and are also encouraged to work in other locations. Please see the supplemental information for other areas of interest within the Johnson Creek Watershed. Photography Workshop: July 21. Landscape photographer Bruce MacGregor will hold a free photo workshop at Leach Botanical Garden (6402 SE 122nd Ave, Portland) from 9-11am. Photographic images will be encouraged at the Art Show.
