However, candidates belonging to SC, ST, PH, Ex-Servicemen and Ex.-TAs of OPF are exempted from paying application fee. The aplication fee is non re-fundable. e) Photographs: Self-attested one recent passport size phtograph (not more than three months old) is to be pasted in the prescribed application format. Besides, 02 additional selfattested same photographs to be enclosed with the application form. f) Signature: Signature of candidate must be on the application form (in the prescriibed place in the application format) 03 Closing Date for Receipt of Application Forms(in prescribed Format). Important Dates: 21 days from the date of publication of the Advertisement in the Employment News (excluding date of publication/ issue). If last date is a closing Sunday or Holiday the next working day will be treated as

the last closing for receipt of applications. (Applications received after closing date for any reason whatsoever reason will be rejected). 04 - Scheme for Examination: i) The selection will be made purely on the basis of combined merit obtained by the candidate in Written Examination and Trade Test. The Selection process will comprise :- (a) Written Test of 100 Marks: The question papers of Writen Test will be bilingual i.e. English and Hindi. (b) Trade Test (Practical) of of 100 Marks : The trade test will be conducted to test the skill the candidates in their relevant trades. ii) Syllabus for Written Examination and Trade Test: (a) Written Examination: The syllabus for the Writen Test will be broadly as that of the NCVT Examination syllabus prescribed for the respective trade and as per the functional requirement of that trade in the factory. (b) Trade Test: The syllabus for Trade Test (Practical) will be as per Trade Test Specification of the semi-skilled grade of the relevant trade. (c) All eligible candidates will be called for an objective type written test. On the basis of merit of written test marks, candidates will be called for Trade Test (Practical Test) of 100 marks in the ratio of 1:3 to the number of vacancies in the respective trades. Final merit will be decided on the basis of combined marks in the Written and Trade Test (Practical Test). In the selection process, other things being equal i.e. marks being equal, trained Ex-Trade Apprentices of the recruiting Ordnance Factory and Sister Ordnance Factories shall be given preference in the order in which they are placed. In between the trained Ex. Trade Apprentices of the recruiting factory, preference shall be "given to those who are senior i.e. if two or more Ex. Trade Apprentices secure the same marks then preference shall be given on the basis of seniority. Seniority of Ex. Trade Apprentices of the recruiting Ordnance Factory shall be decided on the basis of OFB's Letter No. 13/08/03/A/HRD dated 15/17-12-2003 which is as follow :- i) The NCTVT examination batch numbers (month/year) will be the criteria for maintaining the seniority of Ex-TA. ii) The merit list of the particular NCTVT examination will be the criteria of seniority for Ex-TA for that batch. Similarly in between the trained Ex-Trade Apprentices of the Sister Ordnance Factories preference shall be given to those who are senior as mentioned above. In all other cases of tie, the selection will be decided on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Examination only. The ITI candidates and its equivalent Diploma/Certificate holders will be considered for selection only when NCVT Certificate (i.e. NAC or NTC) holders are not available for the post. (d) Minimum Qualification Standards for: The candidates are required to obtain the minimum marks separately in writen examination and practical trade test as given below to be considered for selection:- UR Candidates : Minimum 40% marks. ST, ST & OBC Candidates: Minimum 35% marks. Physical Disabled Person & Ex-Serviceman : Minimum 30% marks. To qualify for selection, the candidates are required to secure minimum qualifying marks as specified for the different categories separately in the Written Test and Trade Test :- Only candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks and above in the written test will be considered for being called for the trade test in the ratio of 1:3 of the number of vacancies. For preparation of the final selection list / merit list, only those candidates who also secure the minimum qualifying marks and above even in the trade test will be considred. 05 - Language for Written Examination: The question papers of Written Test for all posts will be bilingual i.e. English and Hindi. However, the questions on the portion of English Language subject will be in English only. 06 - Physical Disabilities: I Physical disabilities must be 40% or above. II - Definition of Disabilities: (A) Hearing Impairment: Means loss of 60 decibels or more in the better ear in the conversational range of frequencies. (B) Locomotors Disability: Means disability of the bones, joints or muscles leading to substantiual restriction of movement of the limbs or any form of cerebral palsy. (C) Cerebral Palsy: Means a group of non-progressive conditions of a person characterized by abnormal motor control posture resulting from brain insult or injuries occurring in the pre-natal, perinatal or infant period of development. All the cases of orthopedically handicapped persons would be covred under the category of 'Locomotors Disability' or 'Cerebral Palsy'. III - Competent Authority to issue Disability Certiificate: The competent Authority to issue Disability Certificate shall be a Medical Board duly constituted by the Central or State Government. The Central/State Government may constitute Medical Board(s) consisting of at least three members out of which at least one should be a specialist in the particular field for assessing locomotors/cerebral/hearing/visual disability, as the case may be. The Medical Board shall, after due examination, give a permanent disability certificate in cases of such permanent disabilities where there are no chances of variation in the degree of disability. The Medical Board shall indicate the period of validity of the certificate, in case where there are chances of variation in the degree of disability. Note: The Physically disabled candidates need not apply against any post(s), which are not identified / suitable for that particular type of Physical Disability. 07 - Guidelines for filling the application: i) Eligible applicants are required to apply for particular post through Application Form on plain paper. ii) The Application Forms will be filled only in English / Hindi Language. iii) Photo copies of all related documents are required to be enclosed with the application form. iv) Photo copies will be attached duly attested by the Gazetted Officer. v) Self-attested one recent passport size phtograph (not more than three months old) to be pasted in the prescribed application format. vi) A Crossed Demand Draft / IPO of Rs. 50/- payable to the General Manager, Ordnance Parachute Factory, Kanpur must be attached with application. The candidates belonging to SC, ST, PH, Ex-Servicemen and Ex.-Trade Apprentices of OPF, Kanpur need not submit the Demand Draft / IPO. The OPF Ex-Trade Apprentices would not be required to apply against advertisement as they will be called from the factory and considered alongwith others vii) Signature of candidate must be on the application form with date & Left Thumb Impression (in the prescriibed place in the application format) viii) On top of the Envelop - Also indicate the particular trade name in Block Letters. 08 - Important Instructions to the Candidates / Applicants: i) Before applying for any post, the candidates should read carefully all the instructions to satisfy themselves about their eligibilty for the post so as to avoid any disappointment at later stage. ii) Candidates appearing for written test, trade test will travel on their own expenses. However, SC/ST candidates will be paid travelling allowances of Second Class (Ilnd. Applications are invited from eligible Male Indian citizens for filling up the following Group C Combatised, Non-Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) posts in tradesmen cadres in SSB for the year 2012 in the pay scale of Rs. 5200-20200 + Grade Pay Rs. 2000/- Per month plus usual and admissible allowances to Central Government employees including ration allowance, medical assistance, free uniform, free accommodation, free leave passes etc. The post is temporary but likely to become permanent. The posts have all India transfer liability and selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India and abroad. On appointment, the candidate shall be governed by SSB Act and Rules. Last date of receipt of application is 09-08-2012 for all states. 1. Vacancies: Trade wise and category wise details of vacancies are as follows:8. PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (PET)

Note: 1. The number of vacancies are subject to change without any notice and may increase or decrease depending upon the position at the time of final selection. 2. In the cases, where no vacancies in the post are reserved for SC/ST/OBC, the candidates of these reserved category may also apply for the post provided they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for general category. 3. The posts are temporary but likely to be permanent. 4. The recruitment will be conducted on all India basis. 5. Selected candidates are liable to be posted any where within as well as outside the Territory of India according to transfer policy of the force. 2. Pay Scale and Other Allowances: Pay Scale: (Pay Band 1): Rs. 5200-20200 + Grade Pay of Rs. 2000/- per month. 3. Other Allowances: The post will carry Dearness Allowance, Ration Money, Washing Allowance, Free Uniform, Free accommodation or HRA, Transport Allowance, Free Leave Pass and any other allowance as admissible in the Force from time to time under the Rules/ Instructions. They will be covered under new restructured contributory pension scheme. A candidate appearing in the recruitment test must mention / intimate if any criminal cases (s) is / are pending / contemplated against him in any Police station / Honble Court. 4. ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS: The candidate must fulfill all eligibility conditions and should be in possession of all certificates on 09-08-2012. Candidates appearing in the examination/ awaiting result/ educational certificates, Experience certificate need not apply. A) Age Limit - (i) 18 to 23 years ( The crucial date to determine the age will be 09-08-2012) Note: Only Matriculation certificate will be accepted as a proof for establishing age of the candidates and no other document will be accepted. B) RELAXATION: (i) There will be relaxation in age for SC/ST/ OBC (i. e. 5 years for SC/ST & 3 years for OBC). (ii) The upper age limit relaxable up to 5 years in case the candidate is already in Government service. Government employees / servants claming age relaxation should be in possession of a certificate in prescribed format from their office in respect of the length of continuous service which should not be less than 03 years in the immediate period preceding the date of recruitment/ closing date of receipt of application. They should also continue to have the status of Government servant/ employees till the time of appointment, in the event of their selection. The candidate will have to produce NOC form his department at the time of applying for the post/ recruitment. However, departmental candidate may forward their application through proper channel from their head of the offices. This concession will be admissible only where a Government employee has rendered not less than 3 (three) years Continuous service in Govt. Department. (iii) The Relaxation in upper age limit of 5 years shall also be admissible to all posts for the candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of J&K during the period from 01/01/ 1980 to 31/12/1989. The candidate will have to produce a certificate from the concerned District Collector to claim such relaxation in age. (iv) Five years of age relaxation will also be granted to the children and dependent family members of those killed in the 1984 riots and 2002 communal riots of Gujarat Children mean (a) Son (including adopted son): or (b) Daughter (including adopted daughter) Dependent family members mean: (a) Spouse; or (b) Children; or Brother or Sister in the case of unmarried Govt. servant who was wholly dependent on the Govt. servant at the time of his killing in the riot. The candidate will have to produce a certificate to the effect, issued by the concerned District Collector to claim relaxation in age. Children and dependent family members of those killed in the riots (1984 riots and 2002 communal riots of Gujarat) will also produce a certificate from the concerned District Collector. v) The above relaxation in age as mentioned in Para 4 (B) ii to iv is in addition to relaxation to 5 years in age for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates as per Government orders. 5. DEFINITIONS / RELAXATION AND SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR EXSERVICEMEN: i) Age: Relaxation to the extent of military service plus 3 years as provided in DOP&T Notification No.39016/10179-Rectt dated 15.12.1979. ii) Every Ex-Serviceman who has put in not less than six months continuous service in the Armed Forces of the Union, shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from his actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit by more than three years he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit. However, break in service should not be more than two years. iii) Ex-Servicemen holding the higher rank may also compete in this recruitment for lower post provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria and also they furnish their willingness in writing that in the event of their selection they will not claim the post equivalent to the rank they were holding in the Defence Forces. iv) Character certificate: Minimum requirement will be Exemplary/Very Good/Good category certificate v) Medical Category: A(AYE)/SHAPE-ONE, at the time of discharge. They should possess to pass the same medical standards prescribed for direct recruits. vi) Ex-servicemen means a person who has served in any rank(whether as a combatant or as a non-combatant ) in the Regular Army, Navy and Air Force of the Indian Union but does not include a person who has served in the Defence Security Corps, the General Reserve Engineering Force, the Lok Sahayak Sena and the paramilitary forces; and vii) Who has retired from such service after earning his/her pension; this would also include persons who are released/retired at their own request but after having earned their pension or who has been released from such service on medical grounds attributable to military service or circumstances beyond his control and awarded medical or other disability pension or who has been released, otherwise than on his own request, from such service as a result of reduction in establishment; or who has been released from such service after completing the specific period of engagement, otherwise than at his own request or by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, and has been given a gratuity, and includes personnel of the Territorial Army, of the following categories, namely:-viii) Pension holders for continuous embodied services; 6. EDUCATIONAL & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL POSTS: Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board with Two years work experience in respective trade OR (i) One year certificate course from a recognized Industrial Training Institute OR Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the Trade; OR ( ii)Two years Diploma from recognized Industrial Training Institute in the trade or similar trade. Note: Educational certificate other than State Board/Central Board should be accompanied with Govt. of India notification declaring that such qualification is equivalent to Matriculation / 10th Class pass for service under Central Govt. Candidates must qualify the trade test for appointment as a Tradesman in SSB. Note: Multi-skilled candidates will be given preference except for the post of CT( Painter) and CT ( Carpenter). 7. STANDARDS OF PHYSICAL MEASUREMENTS

9. MEDICAL STANDARD: The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction i.e. without wearing of glasses. Candidates must not have knock-knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties. They should conform to the medical standards prescribed by the Force and should be declared fit by the Medical Officers of SSB. The medical certificate obtained from elsewhere will not be entertained. In the event of any doubt or dispute decision of SSB shall be final. 10. METHOD OF RECRUITMENT: The selection process shall consist of following stages :- I) Documentation II) Physical Standard Test ( PST) III) Physical Efficiency Test ( PET) IV) Written Test V) Technical test (Trade Test) VI) Final Medical Examination VII) Review Medical Examination. 10.1. DOCUMENTATION (CHECKING OF ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS / CERTIFICATES FOR ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The candidates who report at the designated recruitment venue on the given date and time will be first asked to submit their call letter/admit card and other documents all in original for verification of age, educational qualification, Technical qualification, Experience, Caste/category etc., which will be returned on spot after verification. Candidates must bring attested copies of all the documents and two attested photographs. 10.2. PHYSICAL STANDARD TEST (PST): The candidates who are found eligible in documentation will be put through Physical measurement Test as prescribed in the eligibility conditions i.e. para-7 above. 10.3. PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (PET): PET will be qualifying in nature and a candidate must qualify in all the above events. Failure to qualify in ANY of the events of PET will render the candidate disqualified to appear in Written Examination. ExServicemen are exempted for PST/ PET. However they will have to appear in Technical / Trade Test, Written Examination and Final Medical Examination. 10.4. WRITTEN EXAMINATION: The candidates who qualify PST and PET will appear in written examination on OMR based Answer Sheets which will comprise 100 multiple choice objective type questions of 100 marks with 2(two) hours duration. The question paper will be set to assess the general awareness, general knowledge, elementary mathematics, analytical aptitude and basic knowledge of the candidate in English/ Hindi. Minimum qualifying marks : 35% for Gen. and Ex- Servicemen 33% for SC/ST/OBC. Note:Candidates appearing in written test will not be allowed to carry electronic equipments like mobile phone, calculator, pager, digital wrist watch having calculator etc. Any candidate found indulging in any unfair practice will be summarily removed from the written test and will be debarred from further recruitments in SSB. 10.5 PRACTICAL/TRADE TEST (75 MARKS): Candidates who qualify the PST/ PET and written examination will be put through Trade Test of 75 marks. The Trade Test is purely qualifying in nature and Candidates will have to secure minimum 50% marks to qualify the Trade Test. These marks will not be added to the written examination marks for preparation of final selection of the candidates for the posts. NOTE:- The candidate shall bring their own tools/ material required for their Trade Test. 10.6 MEDICAL TEST: The candidates who qualify Trade Test will be called for Final Medical Examination strictly on the basis of merit of written examination according to notified vacancies to assess their physical and medical fitness as prescribed in the eligibility conditions. Note:- (i) The candidates will be called for medical examination over and above the number of vacancies advertised so that if some candidates high up in the merit list (category wise) do not make it through medical examination, candidates lower in merit list could be considered for appointment strictly based on merit. (ii) Being called for medical examination will in no way give any legal claim or right to any candidate being finally appointed. 10.7. APPEAL AGAINST THE FINDINGS OF MEDICAL EXAMINATION: If a candidate is declared unfit in the detailed medical examination, the grounds for rejection will be communicated to him by the Chairman. The rejected candidates will obtain Form 4, 5 & 6 from the Chairman concerned, if not satisfied with the findings of the Medical Officer, to prefer an appeal for Review-medical examination to Inspector General (Pers.), SSB Force HQ, R.K. Puram, New Delhi, within 30 days from the date of issue of communication in which the findings of the Medical Officer is communicated to the candidate. The appeal should necessarily contain the following; (a) Review Medical Examination fee of Rs.25/-(Rupees twenty five) only non refundable, through a Bank Draft/IPO in favour of PAO, SSB (MHA), New Delhi, (b) Appeal Form 4, 5 & 6 issued by the Initial Medical Board declaring the candidate as Unfit, (c) One self addressed envelope with Rs.25/- postage stamp duly affixed on it. Fitness certificate other than on Form 6 (provided by the Chairman of Recruitment Board to the Candidates) submitted to appeal for Review Medical Examination will not be considered and rejected straightway. The fitness certificate on Form- 6 is essential to consider their cases for review medical examination and not for any other purpose. Path/ Lab test expenses if any, occurred during Review Medical Examination will be born by the candidates. Those candidates whose review medical appeal found in order will be issued admit cards to appear for Review Medical Examination in the self addressed envelope and their list will also be uploaded in the SSB Website www.ssbrectt.gov.in. The decision of the Review Medical Board of SSB will be final and no 2nd appeal will be entertained as per Govt. instructions and also no reply of the correspondence / 2nd appeal will be given / entertained. Note:- It should, however, be clearly understood that the Selection board reserves absolute discretion to reject or accept any candidate after considering the report of the medical board. 11. FINAL SELECTION:- The final selection list will be prepared in order of merit, category wise, after completion of Review Medical Examination. It is hereby emphasized that the candidates who merely secure the qualifying percentage marks and found medically fit, may not be considered for final selection since the cut off marks will be determined according to number of vacancies as well as after completion of whole recruitment process. Where equal marks have been obtained by candidates their merit will be fixed as per date of birth. The older candidate will be given preference and in case the date of birth is also the same, marks in the written test would decide the merit. The result of provisionally selected candidates will be uploaded in SSB website www.ssbrectt.gov.in as per availability of vacancies. The selected candidates will be issued offer of appointment with the direction to report to the allotted units within 45 days from the date of issue of offer of appointment. No further extension will be given except in deserving cases. The provisional appointment of the candidates will be subject to verification of their Caste and other Certificates related to recruitment through proper channel and if the verification reveals that the certificates are false at any stage, the candidates service will be terminated forthwith without assigning any further reasons and without prejudice to such further action as may be taken under the provisions of Indian Penal Code for production of false certificates. 12. How to apply: Eligible and interested candidates should send their Applications (duly filled in) complete in all respect along with Admit Card duly filled in, in the prescribed pro-forma as per Annexure-I and Annexure-II. The selection process will compromise of: (1) Written Test of 100 marks: The question papers of written test will be in Trilingual i.e, English , Hindi & Local language. ENTITLEMENT FOR TRAVELLING ALLOWANCE: Candidates appearing for SSB interviews for the first time for a particular type of commission shall be entitled for AC III Tier to and fro railway fare or bus fare including reservation -Cum-Sleeper Charges within the Indian Limits. Candidates who appear again for the same type of commission will not be entitled to travelling allowances on any subsequent occasion. 9. Training at OTA Chennai is at Govt expenses, Duration of Training is 49 weeks training at OTA, Chennai, On successful completion of which Candidates will be granted commission in the rank of Lt. The final allocation of Arms/ Services will be made prior to passing out of Gentleman Cadets/Lady Cadets from OTA. Candidates will neither be allowed to live with parents / guardian. Candidates must not marry untill they complete the full training at OTA. A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his/ her application though successful at the Service Selection Board interview or Medical Examination will not be inducted for training. PHYSICAL STANDARD: (a) HEIGHT AND WEIGHT: The minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms. with co-related weight and for women candidate is 152 cms and 42 Kg. (iv) Axial length within permissible limits. 4. PHYSICAL FITNESS STANDARDS AT OTA: Prospective candidates are advised to exercise and keep themselves physically fit, in order to avoid any injury due to the rigorous physical training at Officers Training Academy. In order to be able to adjust to the regime there, candidates are advised to achieve following standard before joining the OTA, if finally selected:- (a) Running 2.4 km in 15 minutes, (b) Push Ups-13 Nos.
