The Kayam is the ultimate mobile theatre.

KAYAM theatre tent

Conceived from scratch to meet the highest standards ever specified for a mobile venue, this Fabric Membrane Structure has been designed and constructed in Rotherham UK. Stressed to full European standards in respect of wind and snow loading, the structure meets the latest Home Office guidelines in respect of entrances and exits, crowd control, fire standards, and licensing laws. Despite being mobile, the Kayam ( which is named after Omar Khayyam the poet whose name means the little tent maker) has facilities that shame many permanent venues. The Kayam comes from a company that provides the best in mobile hospitality units for international blue chip clients, at major events. The theatre boasts features like flooring and carpeting throughout, a magnificent foyer, dressing room facilities with every possible requirement catered for, the availability of bar and catering units to any specification, and high class toilet facilities. The theatre is of full black out specification, with entrance and exit doors to the same standard as a permanent theatre. Back stage, there is adequate space to stage any event. With plenty of height over the stage, and the capacity to carry high point loads, the Kayam has the capability to cover any event. Even at this high standard, the unit is available at competitive rates.

The KAYAM is a modular membrane fabric structure, designed to be operated in several different guises. It includes features such as 4.5m high side walls and no quarter poles. By adding sections, it can be operated at 25 x 25m, 25 x 40m, 40 x 40m, 40 x 55m, 40 x 70m sizes. Designed to all European standards in respect of safety and flame retardancy, this unit is 'state of the art' with its three dimensionally shaped surfaces that do not blow about or move much even in high winds. With supports in the side walls on 5m spacing, our accessories such as solid sides, and glass walls, or aluminium glazed doors can be fitted, as well as raised flooring etc. Designed to offer the
most 3 dimensionally stable surface, the computer designed membrane enables the structure to handle unpleasant weather ! Using the features of a hyperbolic parabola type ( doubly curved ) surface means the structure remains stable in bad weather conditions.

Moonburst is a visually stunning and unique fabric structure. Designed and manufactured in the UK to exacting standards, it combines the practicality of a well proven aluminium space-frame together with a superb flowing roof which sweeps down from the peak, giving a dramatic sense of style to compliment any occasion. The unit is based on modular framework which allows almost any configuration and size to be achieved. Clear span widths of 5 metre to 20 metre can be built on in multiples of 5 metre, to create unique structures from small parties to large exhibition and Hospitality Villages.

The Moonburst also has a unique structurally underpinned floor system that allows the roof structure to free stand almost anywhere, (without the use of stakes or ground anchors), and self levels the floor. With the addition of solid sides, glazed panels, flooring, carpets, linings and specialist lighting etc. we are able to cater for all types of events. If you require help to plan your event our experienced design team will provide concept designs for your exhibition, display or hospitality venue. In fact, we are able to provide solutions to all your indoor and outdoor event requirements.

The Moonburst was designed in 1990 by Rudi Enos in contrast to the 'cow sheds', as the Americans call the flat roofed frame tents. Despite being innovative in design, the Moonburst takes no longer to erect than similar frame structures. We believe there is no finer mobile structure in the world today. The Moonburst has proved it's worth at many events such as: The Royal Show - The British Grand Prix - Royal Ascot - The Open Golf - Corporate Roadshows - Hyde Park Pavarrotti Concert Hospitality - Burghley International Horse Trials - Ebbw Vale Garden Festival

The Moonburst marquee M2

The roof has a unique flowing shape which not only looks good, but sheds water and snow whilst providing torsional stability to the frame itself. In this way, the Moonburst can be considered a composite structure, as the portal framework supports the roof membrane, but the roof membrane also stabilises the portal framework providing an interaction and a synergy not found with normal aluminium frame marquees. Due to their design of having flat roof sheets, other structures must allow a generous clearance on the width of the roof in order for it to slide through the framework easily. In winds this allowance causes the roof sheets to flap up and down on the purlins which are normal on a standard aluminium frame marquee, but are not required on the Moonburst M2. The Moonburst's unique 3-dimensional roof provides not only lateral stability and torsional stability but as it is tensioned it also reduces the flapping and creaking commonly associated with frame marquees. The portal framework of the Moonburst not only looks 'hi-tech' but has a useful purpose in that the structural beams are physically deeper and therefore stronger, but also provide useful hanging points virtually anywhere in the structure. Almost identical structures are used by our associate company to provide high load bearing roofs for portable stages. At additional cost, a structurally underpinned floor is available. This unique sub-system completely reduces the need for any staking at all, even in gale force wind conditions. Full structural calculations are available from RE Design when required. This flooring system also self levels up to 300-500 millimetre depths. This system can, (and has been) used in situations such as pedestrian areas in shopping centres, a grade 1 listed fort (Tilbury Fort), a flat roof of an hotel, and even on a multi storey car park. All of these locations could not accommodate a 'normal' marquee, but the reduced point loads and the self stabilisation of the Moonburst allowed it to be used.

interior without linings

The Moonburst marquee M2

Available only from Rudi Enos Design, the structure is available in 12.5 and 20 metre widths and any length (dependent upon availability), in multiples of 5 metres. It has features that other mobile structures can not match, such as structurally underpinned flooring, that allows total free standing with full stability and safety. It has no need for braces or cables in the walls, as the structural eaves bars make this unnecessary. For exhibitions its floor and aluminium space frame allow hanging of large loads that conventional marquees can not match. For roadshows, the glass and solid white wall interior with linings panels provide a level of sophistication only provided in permanent venues. For hospitality, the crisp white roof linings give a warm feeling and colour matching abilities. For music concerts, the free standing abilities mean that it can safely stand on football pitches and load sensitive areas that would not allow normal marquees. As we also have a full 3D CAD/CAM facility, we are able to provide presentation quality graphics for the extra edge in securing contracts. Full technical details are available on request.
